Calloway under pressure to flip again?

New article on al.com states Bama may have Calloway visiting this weekend, and his dad seems to be putting A LOT of pressure on him to flip back to Bama.

Everything I have seen and heard about Calloway indicates he is an outstanding young man. He seems like a great kid with a lot of character and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. What really surprised me was his dad publicly criticizes him in the article and it really seemed inappropriate, I won't be surprised or necessarily blame him if he gives into his dad's pressure. I just can't believe this man said this stuff to a reporter, I know his intentions were good but you shouldn't criticize your son on a public forum.

I don't want him. I said he was overrated even when he was committed to Alabama -- and he went on to prove me right with his Ned and the first reader performance in the Army All-American game.

Gene Stallings once said, "It's not those somewhere else that beat you, it's the ones that are here and don't want to be." Couple a lack of desire to be at a school with inferior talent and you obviously don't have a good situation on your hands.

That's a tough situation for a young man.

I'm not saying he's a 5-star but if he's so overrated, why are bama's coaches trying to flip him back?

Good question.

For all I know, they agree that he's overrated. But we sign some guys of 3-star talent every year.

I don't think many coaches sign kids because of stars given from a recruiting service.

Ridiculous blather. Sorry.

I'm pretty sure that our National Champion QB would have rather finished at Florida. Some would have you believe that he would have rather been at Mississippi State. I guess he did alright with his third choice.

I read the article and was extremely surprised, even disappointed, by the comments of the father.

Brent, come down to the Plains and be a part of a real family.

Winston says he's not an Alabama fan, but he likes the way the Crimson Tide staff approaches the game.

"They stick to business. You don't see their coaches high-fiving," Winston said.

And if you mess up when you're ahead 20 or 30 points, you get a spanking.

AND if you get ahead of your instate rival by 24 in the first half, and lose, your headphones are to blame. So throwing them and stomping around like a three year old fixes that. :bawling:

All business, yep.

Our coaches are just screwing around on the sidelines not winning games I guess. Oh wait.

You missed what I was saying and the entire point of Stallings' remark. In that...

If Calloway doesn't want to be in Tuscaloosa, then let him be elsewhere.

Our sorry luck, the nation's most overrated prep prospect is "giving us" a second look today. He's visiting UA as we speak. :banghead:

Well hopefully, just for the continued sanity of your little world since you don't want him, maybe he's only visiting today to appease his father.

I pray you're right.

That would definitely be a "God-thing."

whatever crimson you're just sour. He's so overrated blah blah blah. Give it a rest. You guys are all a broken record. Its always we dont want him, or hes overrated, or we stopped recruiting him etc etc. You make excuses for every thing that happens. Look at film, hes impressive. He will need to gain size to be a lb and as a runningback carry the ball high and tight but he runs with a purpose and hits hard. Not overrated

Not sure of this source so TIFWIW...

Brent Calloway is in Tuscaloosa visiting Alabama. I'm told Calloway's phone has been turned off and he will not have any contact with anyone after this visit. Obviously, those around Calloway want him at Alabama. After speaking with numerous people in the past 90 minutes, I think Bama has a good shot to flip Brent back by NSD.

And pretty much every reputable person on The Bunker, including both admins, plus Kiehl Frazier's father who posts from time to time all think he sticks with Auburn.

So you think he's a legit 5* prospect?

You know what -- it doesn't matter. Kinda' like where he goes to school. He won't matter.

So you're on record as saying Saban is a lousy evaluator of talent.

I think he stays with us. Our depth indicates he will have a legit shot at RB. If he agrees with his dad about playing LB, he has a shot at that here also. Call me silly, but I I believe his treatment on FB by the Bammers will play into his decision also. Stuff like that is not easily forgotten.

Amazing isn't it, they lose to AUBURN and their already turning on Saban. And they claim AUBURN isn't their biggest rival. Go figure.

Depends.

I don't have much gripe with him being offered a scholarship. Like I posted earlier, 'Bama signs a few of the 3* mold every year. Zero complaints from me about Calloway being offered under that tag.

What I guffaw at is his blue-chip crowning. He's by no means a 5* talent at linebacker, running back, or long snapper.

I'm not being hypocritical, either. I didn't waive a Brent Calloway pennant when he was committed to Alabama. Instead, I made the comment to numerous people that he was extremely over-hyped and would be buried in the depth chart. I guess he agreed with me?
