AUgrad00 7
What I fail to understand is why you have grown adults who dictate where these kids go. If I am a parent I ask the kid where do YOU want to play. I do not understand grown adults trying to dictate and call the shots. I mean the kid has to live with the decision for four years not coach, not pops, not girlfriend, player. I will be honest at this point with Cyrus I would say its time you either sign or a scholarship is not available. Make a decision.

Do you honestly think that 17 year olds should make such an important decision without imput from their parents. I don't think that Cyrus's parents are trying to dictate where he goes, but I do feel that they want to discuss with him. Why it happened like it did, I have no idea, but I wouldn't let a child of mine make such an important decision without my guidance. I'd want him to tell me why he wants to go to a certain school, and it'd better not be because the girls are pretty or they were nice to me. Well first things first your first statement has never been proven true. But I would say if a player does not want to be at Auburn I am sure even the Auburn coaches would say its best he go elsewhere. I think the way to go about it is relay the pro and cons of all the choices lay those out and let the kid make the decision. Hell I am in my early thirties and I would freaking go play at SC based girls, LA nightlife, and an SC education myself.

Nothing wrong with duscussing things with his parents but they had a lot of time to discuss it with him. but instead they organized a press conference, let their son commit to a school just to tell him afterwards to think about it just ONE more time

After the way Calloway's adopted dad acted and the things he said I think every fricking Bammer everywhere should STFU and never mention Cam and his dad again. After the way Bammers slammed Brent Calloway and now love him for signing is disgusting.

Are you really this poor at understanding the English language? Who said that 17 year olds should make these decisions without input from their parents? Cam Newton said that he decided to let his Dad make the decision for him. He did not say that his Dad made him go to Auburn. Brent Calloway's adopted Dad (of 3 years) publicly trashed his "son" to a newspaper reporter. Cyrus K. looks like a head case now and one possible reason is because his parents would not let sign his LOI to go to Auburn (that certainly may not be the real reason). Cam Newton sought his parents' advice and decided to let his father take the lead in his decision. That is a mature way to handle it. Brent Calloway and CyKo both apparently did not thoroughly discuss their choices with their parents. They both ended up looking immature with overbearing parents. The ideal situation is for the recruit and the parents to discuss the options BEFORE ANY ANNOUNCEMENT and do what is best for the recruit.

Mikey 16,781
Brent Calloway was held in secrecy for three days. No phone, no computer, no friends around. Whether he was water-boarded or not we'll never know. What we do know is that he was forbidden to go to school where he wanted to go. We do know that Cyrus', parents did NOT discuss his decision with him before the press conference. Apparently his coach knew of his choice, where were Mom and Pop? They jump into the picture only when the Big Guy doesn't do what they wanted him to do. When I was 17 I made a life-changing decision and stuck to my guns regardless of all the "ruining your life" talk. I've never regretted that decision for one minute. You, and only you, are privy to all the information that's in your head. I hope Cyrus has the strength to stick to his guns and do what works for him. Mom, Pop and various bammers will not have to live with that decision 24/7, Cyrus will.
autigeremt 7,141
Brent Calloway and Cyrus K. will not keep Auburn from winning games and whipping Bama's ass. It will be the TEAM that prevails. I hate it for the kid(s) involved, but it's nothing new....at least their mother(s) didn't forge their names.......lol
DKW 86 7,872
If you have your OL lead by a guy that is this indecisive will he ever be a leader on the field? Glad i am not CGC, but if i was i would likely just pull the schollie offer and get on with the rest of my life. i dont abide by manufactured drama. Excuse us, the rest of the world and i, have lives to get back to living too. And as always, send your hate mail to the inbox.
AU alum 2
We Auburn fans are losing waaaay too much sleep over these kids. I don't think we are losing sleep over players (at least I'm not anyway). The situation just bugs me that parents that SHOULD know it is time to let their sons grow up, aren't doing that. They want to keep using these kids.

I don't think Cyrus was the one who came on here and started 15 different threads with his name in the title. So the kid wants to think a little longer... you do realize it's still 2 months before he's required to sign, right? Maybe he didn't even want to have a presser in the first place. Maybe the school coerced him into doing it along w/ his teammates. Maybe his family made him do it. Maybe none of us know nearly enough about this situation to cast so many aspersions on people we've never met. Actually, that last part isn't a "maybe". DKW 86 7,872
Fans need to get back to real, life and leave the kids alone. This guy is not going to make us or break us. Leave him alone and let him make his decsion by himself. The vultures on fb and texting him are just...well...i guess i better shut up.
