StatTiger 3,188
With the early departure of Cameron Newton, look for Auburn to return to a more traditional version of the Gus Malzahn offense, especially if Barrett Trotter is eventually named the starting quarterback for the 2011 season. With this in mind, here are some interesting passing numbers to consider. * During the 27 games with Gus Malzahn as the offensive coordinator, Auburn has posted the following passing numbers. 412-660-16-5861yds-55 TD’s. During the previous 27 games before Malzahn’s arrival, Auburn posted the following passing numbers. 404-732-28-4550yds-21 TD’s. * During the 27 games under Gus Malzahn, Auburn has thrown for 4 or more touchdowns during a game, 5 times. You would have to go back through the previous 116 games to equal the 5 games of 4 TD passes or more. * From 1992-2008, Auburn averaged an impact pass-play (15-yards or more) every 5.9 pass attempts and 1 every 4.4 from 2009-2010. * From 1992-2008, Auburn averaged a big pass-play (30-yards or more) every 22.1 pass attempts and 1 every 15.3 pass attempts from 2009-2010. * From 1992-2010, Auburn has an average pass rating of 130.06. Under Gus Malzahn, Auburn has surpassed that average in 19 of 27 games. Prior to his arrival, Auburn surpassed the average in 19 of their last 47 games. * From 1970-2010, Auburn has compiled a 113-11-0 record, when the Tigers complete 60 percent of their passes for at least 7.5 yards per attempt during a game. Gus Malzahn’s offense has reached those two goals in the same game 14 of 27 times (51.8 percent). From 1970-2008, Auburn reached the same passing goal in 110 of 460 games (23.9 percent). * From 2005-2008, Auburn had a pass rating of 106.4 on 3rd down and a rating of 131.8 from 2009-20010. * From 1992-2008, Auburn compiled a pass rating of 133.4 on first down. The rating dropped to 122.9 from 2005-2008 and jumped to 162.2 under Gus Malzahn. * From 1999-2008, Auburn had a pass rating of 123.6, when their QB’s were sacked at least 3 times during a game (39-games). Under Gus Malzahn, Auburn has a pass rating of 146.0 (8-games). War Eagle!
bdc81 90
StatTiger, I'm with you Bro. Think CGM has heard enough about CN being the sole reason for 2010 success. I'm expecting big things in 2011 if the O-line comes around and we stay healthy at RB. Little Doc
