MDM4AU 337
Had someone tell me today that some mobile phone apps require a wi-fi connection to work. That just sounds crazy to me. Has anyone heard of such? Why even have the app if it doesn't work on the mobile phone/mobile service?
TitanTiger 21,100
I don't know that I've heard of that. What app are you looking at?
MDM4AU 337
I don't know that I've heard of that. What app are you looking at? Neighbor and I were talking about new phones and he made a comment about it. I didn't say anything, but got to thinking about it later. He just said something about some apps needing wi-fi. He has an android phone. I was telling him about my wife's new Samsung Vibrant.
sandyclawedtiger 207
I've got a vibrant and haven't found any yet. There was one, I think tv.com, that I had to have wi-fi to watch some of the shows on my G1. Does she have the new update to froyo? If not get it on line it turns it into a whole new phone. aKaBeasTTT 0
no thats not true. I'm not an expert but as far as I can tell all you need is service/bars to get into any app that requires an Internet connection. That may cost you extra though depending on if you have a certain plan. Only thing wi-fi is, is just a faster connection. So say you want to watch a youtube video, on wi-fi it would load up a lot faster.
WarEagle007 1
I know that for the iPhone there are some apps that require wifi since they take up a lot of bandwidth. The most well-known example is FaceTime. However I believe you can now video chat with Skype over 3G on an iPhone.
