That October stretch is brutal. But this should give the uaters one less thing to whine and complain about, and one less excuse.

I know Alabama doesn't like teams having bye weeks before they play them but Alabama could have changed their schedule so they wouldn't have to play a D1-AA team the week before the Iron Bowl. :brickwall:

I like it! Moving the open date to before UGA makes that open weekend two weeks earlier. One big gripe has been "11 weeks without a break". This is better.

I also like having homecoming between UGA and UAT instead of an open date. An opponent like Samford allows us to keep sharp yet still focus on bammer.

Only benefit I see is having an extra week to recover from stab wounds and bite marks inflicted by thUGA before West Vance comes to town. <_<

The road games makes this tough - especially with a new QB. However the spacing with lower-tier SEC teams and cupcakes makes it seem manageable. And also, we're catching Florida during a rebuilding year.

Put me in this group, emphatically.

Also, I like having MSU early at home. Gives us an early, manageable SEC test.

I don’t know if breaking up the back to back games vs. Georgia and Alabama is a good thing or a bad thing. I guess only time will tell. However it’s going to be strange to not have those two games together to close out the regular season. It’s been that way my entire life. The last time Auburn didn’t close the regular season with Georgia and Alabama back to back was 1963. In 1963 they played Georgia (won 14-0), Florida State (won 21-15), and Alabama (won 10-8). It worked out pretty well for them in 1963 and I just hope in 2011 Auburn has the same results.

Apparently we moved what was scheduled to be an open date before Bammer in 2011 due to their bitching to the SEC about six teams having open dates before they played them last year. Boo-friggin-hoo.

The traditionalist in me doesn't like it, Amen Corner shouldn't be broken up.

The realist in me likes that the harder games are spaced out a bit.

The original "amen corner" when Pay Dye named it went: Florida, Homecoming (sometimes that was Mississippi State), Georgia, Off week, UAT.

The SEC adding one more team in rotation moved Florida out. I like MSU early rather than late. I also like having a homecoming type opponent the week before bammer, I think that's better than a week off right then.

Next year's "Off week, Georgia, Homecoming, UAT should be about as good as it can be.

As far as tradition goes, losing annual games with Tennessee and Florida shot tradition down a long time ago. I really wish the SEC would pick up two western teams to add to the conference. Then Auburn could move to the East. We could still play UAT as our one traditional rival and play Georgia, Florida and Tennessee every year. Not that would be a fun schedule!
