AUBURNJAC 53
I want to say that I'm very proud of Coach Rocker! He is an awesome man! When I was in school I used to tailgate with some politicians and people like Jimmy Samford. That was really lucky for me, b/c several times past athletes like Bo Jackson, Charles Barkley, Frank Thomas and Tracy Rocker would stop by! I remember looking at Coach Rocker and thinking "holy s***"!!!! He is a very nice man and I can't wait to see him on the sidelines here in Nashville. I am sad to see him leave Auburn though, but hey, he's a coach and I'm guessing this is a super good move for him.
metafour 4,976
Or a step to possibly arriving back in Auburn as DC or HC one day. Highly unlikely. Very few defensive line coaches become coordinators.
mcgufcm 4,109
Very few defensive line coaches are as good as Rocker. I'd say the odds are higher for him than they are for most in his position. If he wants that, I'd definitely say its a real possibility. Personal opinion, he was the best positional coach on the staff and the second most important assistant on the staff. I really, really hate seeing him leave. At the same time, great opportunity for him. Very happy for Rock and exceedingly grateful for everything he's done for Auburn (player and coach). Any thoughts on where we go to fill the hole? RunInRed 18,172
I think a lot of Coach Rocker value was his clear ability to relate with players and 'coach 'em up'. Just take a look with what he did with Fairley. Now, whether he can scheme an entire defense, recruit, be a front figure head, I have no idea. Regardless, best of luck to Coach Rocker ... he will be missed.
MDM4AU 337
Money has little to do with it. Avg pos coach in the NFL makes about $250k. Auburn could out bid any NFL team probably. This is simply a career move for Rocker. Hate to see him go but happy for him and wish him the best. Being a Titans fan, on the other hand...I am happy. Doesn't override my Auburn side, though. Mikey 16,781
Good luck Coach Rocker. I hate to see him go, but this is a step toward what he eventually wants. That's to be a head coach. You don't get to a HC job by sitting still and doing the same thing year after year. A stint in the NFL will certainly boost his potential in the coaching profession. I'm not that worried about a replacement. Coach Chizik hired Rocker, there is no reason to think he won't hire an equally good replacement. Coach Rocker had great material to work with at Auburn. I don't remember his D-lines at Arkansas or Ole Miss striking fear into the hearts of SEC opponents. He's a good coach and did a great job here but he's not some linchpin that's been holding the D together. At least recruiting is over and there's time to get the next guy oriented before Spring practice starts.

Duder 243
Put me in the mixed emotion group You always want your assistants working to better themselves, which of course brings other opportunities if they are successful. I'm glad Coach Rock worked to be better and to make the program better. I'm proud for him and his hardwork paying off and I think he will do a great job in Nashville. I would LOVE to have him around another year or two to help rebuild this line. He was easily the most important position coach on the staff and would've been huge in any success across the front this year. I hate to see him leave but he certainly deserves it and I wish him all the best.
