Seems he is also a Bama fan and may have implicated himself in this deal. His bama message board screen name is florabama and he left a interesting trail while online. According to him he and The Nut job are high school classmates and former co-workers not to mention he is a current gasline inspector and would have access to Spike80df. Take a look at his online trail. ** Notice how the writer (Floribama) is still posting after the arrest. Harvey was friends on Facebook with the owner of the screen name Floribama** please do not assume in anyway this has anything to do with FLORABAMA the establishment. I hate to say it but I think it is. I'm wondering if I can find out who posted bail for ole Al tonight? Wonder if Mr. Barnes name is on that bond. Well, in the OP, the floribammer poster mentioned heading up to AL to find out about bonds for him. It seems that would only further solidify his actual involvement in all of this. Mikey 16,781 Posted February 19, 2011 Share Posted February 19, 2011 From what I know about the herbicide, regulations and so forth, it seems unlikely that Updyke would have enough sense/knowledge to acquire the stuff. He wouldn't know what to ask for, and if he casually asked about herbicide at some feed and seed store, Spike is not what would be recommended for homeowner use. A gas line inspector such as Barnes would have the necessary knowledge and access to the chemicals to pull this off. I vote that Barnes, if he didn't actually go with Updyke on the mission, was certainly complicit in it. In one of the newspaper quotes Thursday, Barnes stated that he was going to "go see about getting Updyke out". It's reasonable to assume he's the one that sprung him. From day one I had a real problem with the bail amount. $50,000 is not very much bail. Normally, if a person can put up 10% the bail bondsman puts up the rest. Anybody, even a tool like Updyke, can get his hands on $5,000. If they'd made it a cool million the jerk would still be in the jug. Did anybody see the TV report of his release? I would think knowing about AND BRAGGING ABOUT a crime before it's even been reported would make you a co-conspirator even if you were home in bed the night it happened. I'm beginning to believe he/they wanted to get caught. I think he/they expected to get off with a slap of the wrist, then be worshipped as heros...it was their 15 minutes of bammer fame! ...of course, any time now it's going to sink in to even their tiny brains that those 15 minutes will be followed by many years of legal woes, misery and regret.
