Russell Wilson

Anyone heard anything about this situation? Basically the talented QB Russell Wilson from NC State is looking to transfer for his last year of eligibility (much like Masoli). Lot's of people saying Auburn may be a good fit since we don't have a solid #1 QB as of now. http://atlanta.sbnation.com/georgia-tech-yellow-jackets/2011/5/2/2149563/russell-wilson-transfer-nc-state-south-carolina-auburn-football

Heard he's leaving NC State to play pro baseball over the Summer.

He may be good, but I don't know how well it would pan out with the rest of the team in terms of chemistry. At least with Cam, he had to earn his position on the squad and he came early enough in the year to mesh with the rest of the players.

Wilson is a solid QB. I don't think we're going down that road, but he can play. His ability or inability to get on the field would have a LOT to do with his ability to learn the offense. He's more physically gifted than Trotter or Mosley, but I don't think anyone can learn the offense quickly enough to pass both of those guys. I don't expect Kiehl Frazier to do it either.

It wouldnt bother if he came but he would have to earn the spot no doubt.Barret Trotter looks promising to me and already has experience in the offense and would be a pretty cheap move to bring Wilson in and cut out Trotter. But on a side note it would be helpful to add another solid qb to the line up just for injuries if they decide RS Frazier. I would explain it to him kind of like that. Its always nice to have an option or go to whoever has the hot hand. But its over our head we'll see what happens. If hes so interested in the SEC and wants to start he should be looking to VANDY/Tenn.

Don't want him and im worried about the image it portrays if we make it a habit to keep bringing in one year quarterbacks. NC State's staff didn't sound too concerned about losing him when he was talking about going pro in baseball. Their fans are excited to see Mike Glennon, he was the MVP of the Under Armour game a couple years ago. Im pulling for him too since he went to my high school.

Bringing Wilson in wouldn't be like Cam coming in. Cam arrived on campus in January and went through spring training and summer drills before pre-season camp started. Wilson would barely be done with baseball by time for opening game kickoff.

I don't think any D-1 team will take him under those circumstances. His talent may be such that a smaller program will take him and he can just blow the opponents away with superior talent, because Wilson is very talented.

Ole Miss would be his best SEC bet.

I'm looking for BT to have a great year running the CGM offense.

I'm with most of you. Give Trotter/Mosely and even Frasier the chance to run this offense. I think we have 3 very qualified and talented QB's on campus.

I'd rather stick with who we have.

By all indications, the coaches agree with you. ;)

I have to disagree with you guys, he is already to be a good QB and yea he played in the ACC but the talent is not that superior in the SEC, yea the SEC is great but that doesn't mean the ACC sucks, they just aren't as good, plus he did great with a poor supporting cast at NC State, Imagine what he could do at Auburn? I'm not saying that BT ain't the man, I'm just saying we should welcome RW with open arms and at least give him a chance, if BT is better then so be it but RW could be a great wildcat QB with his mix of speed and footwork along with his passing.

I would prefer to not have a transfer QB two years in a row. I'm glad the coaches aren't interested . I think we are OK at Wildcat QB with Reed, Bray and possibly Frazier.

I understand that. I wouldn't mind it so much if he got to practice with the team for a while as well as earn his spot.

I can't imagine what it would do for team morale. I know the current QBs probably wouldn't be too happy knowing they busted their tails to get a shot at leading the defending national champs only to have it snatched out from under them by a guy who didn't even participate in summer practices.

I know this guy has talent, and is a good person from what I've heard. I just don't think it'd be good for Auburn.
