Another UGA player leaving

Rising junior A.J. Harmon is leaving the Georgia football team for “personal reasons,” according to UGA’s sports communication office.

Harmon

Harmon, who projected as a potential starter at right tackle for the Bulldogs, intends to “transfer to another institution,” according to a very brief new release distributed Tuesday. No other information was immediately available. However, Harmon’s departure coincides with the completion of UGA’s spring semester. Harmon had to sit out the Liberty Bowl last December due to an academic-related suspension.

Neither Harmon nor head coach Mark Richt could be reached for comment.

J.B. Arnold, Harmon’s coach at Jefferson County High School, also has not talked to Harmon but desperately wants to.

“He called me one day last week and said he was leaving Georgia and that’s all I know,” Arnold said Tuesday. “I told him that we needed to sit down and talk before he did anything, but I haven’t heard from him since.”

Harmon signed with Georgia as a defensive lineman in 2008. He was moved to offensive line that fall and redshirted. He played in three games as a redshirt freshman in 2009 and four as a backup offensive lineman last year.

This spring he was battling with Justin Anderson for the starting job at right tackle. Either way he was expected to see significant playing time both there and as a backup at left tackle.

Harmon is the second major offensive contributor to leave the team prematurely this spring. Running back Washaun Ealey was granted a release to seek a transfer earlier this month.

If King doesn't come back, then thUGA is gonna be reeling. You can's start the season w/ 2 losses like this on the OL, lose a key RB, and then expect to take command of the SEC East.

The old ball coach's schedule in the east looks better and better all the time.

UK - down;

UGA - down;

UF - possibly still down

UTk - down, maybe out (NCAA)

Vandy - never got back up

I'm thinkin' BoomMF will get the Gators on track in a hurry. There's a world of talent available to him there. His only real tough competition next year will come from the SEC West in Auburn, LSU and UAT.

I just hope UGA doesn't drop the ball against Boise State in the opener. Just more reason for people to jump on the Boise bus if they beat an SEC "powerhouse", even in a down year.

Everyone and their mother will pick BSU so I am actually quite happy about that

Honestly I believe Uga will hammer BSU.

I'm going w/ the horsies on this one.

X2.

After all the hatred brought upon us by the rest of the SEC this past season, my loyalty to the conference is shot.

All I want is for the DullDawgs to clear BSU out of the way as Auburn heads for another BCS championship. After that, Athens can fall into the Dismal Swamp for all I care.

I used to pull for UGA when they weren't playing Auburn but like ShocksMyBrain said, after last season them days is gone.

Ditto. I've lived in GA for almost 40 years, and, like you, I used to pull for UGA when they played anyone but us. But last season, the fans I personally know began to act like bammers. They all wanted Oregon to beat us, and they started exhibiting the bammer arrogance. I'm done, I don't care if they never win another game.

They all wanted Oregon to beat us, and they started exhibiting the bammer arrogance.

Why is that any different than most AU fans wanting UGA to lose in big games?

As for the bammer arrogance, I am not even sure what that means.

Until this season, I always wanted UGA to win the big games and beat everyone but us. As for the bammer arrogance, I wouldn't expect you to understand; you haven't lived with it for 50 years.

Don't get me wrong. Who I think will win has no bearing on who I will pulling for (in this case noone). I just can't help remember the last time they played though.

Have you even been reading the remarks here? Prior to the AU/UGA game last year, I always pulled for UGA when they weren't playing Auburn. They were my "second team". After the attitude of dawg fans, both in person and on line since then, that's over. Never saw such a bunch of sore losers in my life. Everyone over there was all over the "Go bammer' and "Go USCe" and then "Go Ducks!" stuff.

If that's how the DullDawgs want it, fine. Pulling for Vandy will be about as rewarding, at least they are seldom an embarrassment. Well, there was that girl basketball player at Vandy that got the DUI, but that was five years ago.

Have you even been reading the remarks here?

Yes, some Pro-UGA, some hate-UGA, etc....in terms of this forum compared to others I have read, the Pro-UGA AU fans seem to all reside here.

Never saw such a bunch of sore losers in my life.

And I have seen that said about Auburn fans all the time on LSU, Bama, and a lot by UGA fans.

There isn't a team in the SEC that takes football seriously that deals with losing well hence why just about every team has "horror stories" written about them on rival-team sites all the time.

The only delusional people are the ones who think their fan base takes losing well.

Never saw such a bunch of sore losers in my life.

So what? There isn't a team in the SEC that takes football seriously that deals with losing well hence why just about every team has "horror stories" written about them in rival-team sites all the time.

Sorry, it's just a fact that the UGA fans took it to a different level this year. Even Buck Belew and John Kincaid were calling UGA fans out. There was some legitimacy to some of it- had an opposing D lineman treated my QB the way Fairley did Murray, I'd be furious- but the whining from your fanbase reached a fever pitch like I've never seen before. It was weird, and it was sad. And it was misplaced. You guys have issues in your program, and we became a convenient scapegoat.

I'm typically not one to enter into these conversations w/ strangers, but seriously, your pitiful puppy brethren have really behaved in an embarrassing way these past 7 months or so, and I can't wait until our team stomps all over your team's sorry a$$es again in November. Can't recall many fanbases ever deserving it quite like yours does.

I consider UGA fans as the sleaziest in the SEC. What other team has fans that try to tear up the emblem from the middle of the field after a road win? I was at the game in 1986 and watched their fans attempt this. UGA fans claim that we used high pressure hoses to clear the field (they think that all white Alabamians still keep high pressure hoses just in case). What really happened was that hundreds of UGA fans stormed the field and many knelt down to tear up the sod containing the "AU" emblem. AU students were jumping out of the stands to literally "defend our turf". The sprinklers in the 4 corners were turned on to turn a dangerous situation (there were about to be 10,000 AU students beating the hell out of 100 UGA students) into a funny situation because it was a night game and it was cold enough that no one (except the most drunk bulldogs) wanted to get wet. I was told that UGA fans ripped up the UF logo at the Gator Bowl the year before.

I like to say that UGA fans are as mean sober as LSU fans are when they are drunk.

Never saw such a bunch of sore losers in my life.

Wait, what? Did you forget that they both spent the first half of their show talking about how dirty AU's players were during the game? All they said about UGA fans was that we should stop picking on Richt. Nothing else. There is nothing terrible or bad about that.

As for the rest of what you said, I still don't see any "facts" of it other than you wanting to beat UGA. Seems AU fans are really pissed about being called "dirty" by the national media and want to blame UGA fans for that. So, people throw in some lines of "You all are terrible. That is a FACT!" and hope it sticks....even though Bama, LSU, and others are saying the exact same thing about you (and others).

Auburn is so dirty yet the only game I have ever seen any Auburn players ejected from was the past UGA game. Only after some fat UGA lineman who was getting his rear end handed to him decided to act like a punk.

The first half of their show? Which one? I listened to their show every day for weeks after that game, and the single line they repeated the most, day after day, was the one highlighted below:

But I don't look at Auburn DT Nick Fairley as a cheap shot artist. Maybe it's because I played with Eddie "Meat Cleaver" Weaver. The QB with the ball in his hands is fair game. Beware. I'm sure Aaron Murray understood that coming into the game. Fairley had a bad rep for abusing QBs.

Just went back and looked at the 4 hits he took at Aaron. The Facemask incident: shows Fairley is mean. The Spearing incident: this was a cheap shot...Murray had already released the ball and that was clear to Fairley. The Pick-Up & Dump incident: it's illegal in the NFL, but legal in CF. The Knee Shot incident: Fairley was coming in low with his pass rush, and was getting pushed by the Georgia OL. Could he have pulled up? Don't believe so. How is a 300 pound beast a foot off the ground going to stop? Now if he was coming in high, and then went down low that would be an entirely different story.

Did I appreciate the Georgia OL going after Fairley on the next play? Yes, I loved it. Absolutely loved it. Just wish they would have protected him more prior to that.

Fairley would be a rock star in Georgia, if he played for the 'Dogs. But he plays for Auburn. So, we hate on him.

Apologies- Belue, not Belew

Now, you're right about one thing, "facts" was a poor word choice (despite that the above comments were, in FACT, written). But you're in extreme denial here. While I'm sure your selective reading uncovered some comments from other fanbases about dirty play by Auburn, you probably failed to notice that it was drowned out by questions about coaching and talent- you know, things that actually win and lose football games. The difference with you butthurt, crybaby UGA fans is that you actually blame your team's deficiencies on a couple questionable tackles by that mean ol' Nick Fairley. It's bizarre. And you are clearly STILL whining about it.

Don't worry, I know I'm not going to make you understand that the UGA fanbase has, in general, acted in any particular way. So I'll see myself out of this conversation. But one last item. You said that LSU, Bama and UGA fans all called Auburn fans sore losers. If you want to lump yourself in with that bag of bricks, be my guest. But some fact-checking would serve you well. We didn't lose to any of you. We beat the hell out of all of you. 14-0, baby. National Champions. Go ahead, whine about it a little more. You won't surprise a single person around here.
