He sure makes it sound bleak. Other than the fact that they're away games, why would we be an underdog to Clemson and SC? Aren't they both replacing their quarterbacks?

I think expectations are pretty low because of the "odd year" schedule (i.e., at LSU, Ark, UGA). Throw in an OOC game at Clemson and East division opponents of South Carolina and Florida it looks pretty daunting. And that's before you look at the Roster where there is tons of talent but youth all around with not many starters returning. All that said, I'm not near as down on the potential for these season as most. I see 8-9 very winnable games and maybe more if things bounce the right way.

I also think it's premature to declare us an underdog against Florida. It's a home game, they have a rookie head coach and an unsettled sitiation at QB.

I agree. I also don't buy the South Carolina hype - we win that game, mark it.

So he says we're "rebuilding/reloading". I give a big "so what" to that. What team in the SEC isn't ? Our line up isn't set, but we have athletes already there or coming in to comtribute as freshmen. Which team is perfectly set for a starting roster ?

Auburn will be fine this year. I trust our coaches and have faith in our players.

WDE !

We're still being looked down on as the "red-headed stepchild".

I rather enjoy watching a red auburn headed step child slap the other kids around. We're good at that.

Seems about right. I expect the Carolina line to be wider, and we'll be favored over UF. If we aren't, bet heavy and buy yourself something nice with the winnings. I buy into most of what is said about Carolina, but I don't believe a word on the Gators. Muschamp will be fine long-term, but they're no more than a 7 or 8 win team this year.

True that, double-true

They have a bunch of talent stockpiled in Gainesville. IF (note the caps on IF) the available talent meshes with the new coaching staff, the Gators could well win 10 or more games. I think that will happen and Florida ends up a top-ten team in the final polls.

Now all we have to do is wait until January to see who is right. :)

All sports writers have an opinion and it will never favor Auburn. All that needs to be understood is winning is contagious, talent is at a premium and heart is built on the foundation of hard work, believing in one another and family. The Auburn Tigers have all of these ingredients that when mixed together with the dedicated coaching staff that we have can only add up to one thing -- Success and Victory. It is just to bad (or maybe not) that the "football experts" around the country cannot recognize this. WDE

The bottom line with this team is we are scary young. We all know there is oodles of talent but not loads of experience. However, Chizik has given PT to a substantial amount of players over the last two seasons. All the strife of last season should not be forgotten. With the exception of the frosh, this team is stress-hardened. They were along for the ride for miracle after miracle en route to the BCS. They were on a team that wore a bullseye on their back all year. They were on the team that someone always had something to say, usually something negative. The experience the earned last year cannot be understated.

Now, after all they've been through, they're being told they're not good enough. There are few things more dangerous than a pissed off team with nothing to lose. If we fizzle, who cares? We are young--no one expects much out of this team. I promise you this team will play tough and with a chip on their shoulder. Mark it down, we out perform expectations greatly.

I love this. You're right. with the exception of players coming in, everyone else was either in the game or on the sidelines for last season's miracles. This article is a very bleak outlook. Isn't Al.com notoriously biased in favor of Bama?

Auburn is going 2-10 folks.

Just accept it.

It's the rightful punishment for our obvious and blatant cheating last year.

It's Karma. Deal with it.
