NavyNightmare 0
With the Outback Bowl in the books and Signing Day around a month away, one cannot help but look forward to next year. My question is... With a dramatic turn around this year and a dynamite recuiting class on it's way, where do you guys think we will be ranked next year in the polls? fourthvision 0
I expect 15-20ish, but most likely 21,22 Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/86778-high-start-next-year/#findComment-892260 Share on other sites
AUTigers910 88
I think it goes down to how much hype Cameron Newton gets. If they think he will come in and be a top caliber player, I would say closer to #15, but if they think he will be a bust or just an average QB, we could go anywhere from #20 to unranked. edawg 0
Well, I don't want to be the pessimist here, but I don't see us being ranked in the Top 25 next year. W'll be in with the "others receiveing votes" teams. While I think that we will be one of the top 15-20 teams in the nation next year, I believe that the pollsters will defenitely take the "wait-and-see" approach with Newton and question our ability to replace superb senior leadership (Todd, Tate, AC, Mcfadden). EagleFlight34 101
Well, I just recovered from yesterday's game and decided there is no better time than the present to quit lurking, join up, and make my first post! I think we won't be much higher than 20, but pre season rankings won't matter when we go undefeated! War Eagle! to the best Auburn site on the net, and thanks to all those who make it what it is and everyone who posts! Tis a good point, but I think 2004 would help us in that regard. Besides, Bama really is back now, so beating them actually means something again. Ergo, should we be in the top 10 (which we would be even at 10-1) entering the Iron Bowl, beat them in Bryant-Denny, then win the SEC Championship, I think we'd get a shot at it. I like being the underdog. It's a lot easier to sneak up on people. parkjas2001 0
It is hard to be ranked when you return a poor defense, lose your starting QB and top RB. Auburn wilol probably be in the recieving votes category like 26-27. Auburn wilol probably be in the recieving votes category like 26-27. A poor defense that held the Heisman winner to 30 yards and returns 9 starters...and will likely sign two of the top three prep running backs to go along with the highest rated QB in the country. I'd be really happy if you were right, because that's about where I'd want to start, but with recruiting becoming as big as it is, a new coaching staff that went 8-5 in year one and brought 30 new players in with their first recruiting class, and an offensive line with over 100 combined starts, I feel pretty confident we will be ranked. The Duke 0
I agree with Rednilla, I am thinking between 20-25. I could see us being just out of the top 25 because we are Auburn, but some of the ESPN folks might have begun to drink a little kool-aid which would certainly help our chances. Wareagle3720 0
Well we will likely finsh this year receiving votes and with a top 5 recruiting class.... We are not losing to much and if Cam Newton impresses during spring and gets hype around us coming into next year... I will say 18-23 also depends on injuries before the season Link to comment https://www.aufamily.com/topic/86778-high-start-next-year/#findComment-892403 Share on other sites
NavyNightmare 0
I'm a little concerned with our D next year as well. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the offensive players we got this season. But we were really thin on D this year. Would feel a little more at ease if we could have gotten some real quality depth on D as well. That will be what the ESPN guys will see. atwauburn 0
I think we will pull a little more depth on D this rec class... This year gave CGC a snap shot of where he needs to focus his expertise, Imo he will spend a little more time focusing his attention on D.. Just my thoughts. AUTi9er96 9
We will be some where in the 20-25 range. We have a lot to do on Defense to stay there, but we did not loose a lot of seniors and we will finish in the top 25 to end this year I hope. guerra aguila 0
What are the chances we end up in the top 25 this year with so many teams getting beat in the bowl games? I doubt we land in it, but I thought it would be a cool question. As for next year, I think 20 is fair enough. We play Clemson early, so they will kinda give us an idea of where we stand.
