If the '04 season is any indicator, where we start will play into where we finish. If the D shows up, we have no problem makin the run!

04/10 vs. Arkansas State Auburn, Ala. (W)

09/11/10 at Mississippi State # Starkville, Miss. (W)

09/18/10 vs. Clemson Auburn, Ala. (W)

09/25/10 vs. South Carolina # Auburn, Ala. (W)

10/02/10 vs. Louisiana-Monroe Auburn, Ala. (W)

10/09/10 at Kentucky # Lexington, Ky. (W)

10/16/10 vs. Arkansas # Auburn, Ala. (W)

10/23/10 vs. LSU # Auburn, Ala. (W)

10/30/10 at Mississippi # Oxford, Miss. (W)

11/06/10 vs. Tennessee-Chattanooga Auburn, Ala. (W)

11/13/10 vs. Georgia # Auburn, Ala. (W)

11/26/10 at Alabama # Tuscaloosa, Ala. (W)

I just have my doubts on getting past the SEC Championship. Ah the hell with it.

SEC Championship... WIN!!   :we:

Gotta go with 12-0 until proven otherwise. Like Chizik said "I expect to win every game."

But I will say that Clemson game scares me. I know they lost Spiller, but the backup they had averaged about 7 yards per carry.

Georgia and LSU are both going downhill right now. If they can somehow break the curse and beat them both for the first time in... too long... I think they can make the run. Arky St, Miss St, La-Monroe, UTC are autowins. USCe, Clemson, Kentucky, Arkansas and Ole Miss are good but should be wins. Alabama looks to be the toughest game again, but I think they can pull it off, especially if Newton is as good as advertised (assuming he's the starter).

I'm expecting Ole Miss to be good next year. Houston Nutt has a track record of exceeding lower expectations and falling short of high expectations, which is why I predicted that they would fall well short of their lofty preseason rankings, so next year I'd think the pendulum will swing the other way...especially with Jevon Snead coming back.

I also expect the entire conference to be back up next year. For some reason I have a feeling UGA will rebound and win the east, and with half the freaking conference in the top ten in recruiting, there will be quite a few new playmakers emerging.

That said, I've gotta agree with Fog: I'm not going to mark ANY game down as a loss, because I sincerely believe that no one in the SEC, and by transitivity the country, will be better than us.

Very good point

I would love to go undefeated and compete for it all next year but I still think we have some developing to do... With that said before we signed Newton I thought we would go 9-3 but with a true playmaker at QB I can see us going 10-2 maybe even 11-1! I just think we still have develop some consistency on both sides of the ball so we may slip up once or twice but I see us challenging for the SEC West title! Either way I am pumped and ready for Arkansas State kickoff! Time to start tailgating!

I was just thinking about this myself and it is just impossible for me to pick AU without feeling like a homer, sunshine pumper, kool-aid drinker. I want to say we're going to win the SEC Championship next year but we may be still too thin and young in spots. We may have bad injury luck, etc.

But on the sunshine end, I am really pumped about having a good QB run Malzahn's offense. I think we're going to be hard to beat with just that one position being better. Then you start thinking about having more depth at LB and in the secondary....More playmakers at WR and special teams. We could be really good next year.

On the other hand we could have too many freshmen playing at times next year and look it....Who knows? It's extremely hard to go undefeated in the SEC but I'm going to say we may a good run at it and may settle in at around 10 wins. A 10 win season in Chizik's 2nd year would be pretty sweet in my opinion. Especially if we get this UGA and bammer monkey off our back. WDE!

For fear of the jinx, I can't make any game predictions...

Auburn will be much improved in all phases of the game.  Offensively, I thank Chris Todd for all he did for us and believe he was the best choice this year.  But, he is not the prototypical QB for CGM's approach and competiton will yield a better suited starter next year with a solid back-up to boot.  The skill positions will be loaded and the key may be how our offensive line performs.  Defensively, we will have considerably more talent and depth.  This will give CTR the chance to show what he can do with a better equiped tool box and I believe we will be pleased with the results and that the improvement will accelerate as the year goes on.  The defensive depth will also allow CGM to push the offensive pace without fear of throwing the D back out on the field.  It is a classic "catch-22" because pushing the pace will not work every time and yet it will increase the chances of offensive success.  I expect our special teams to improve as well as we see fewer starters forced into action and that will provide exposure and participation opportunities for many newcomers.  I do not see us redshirting that many folks going forward as times have changed but that is a whole separate topic.

Looking around the west, I expect Alabama to miss Rolando McLain far more than they expect and I wonder if the time has come for LSU to quit winning despite Les Miles!  Mallet will return at Arkansas but they will continue to forget to play defense.  Ole Miss will have Snead back but they will not have McCluster... Enrique Davis is no McCluster.  Miss St will continue to improve and will be a tough "out."  The east is a mystery to me... numerous question marks on the coaching staffs.

Aubie I see your points... there is definitely a lot of really interesting things going on with the East and West. At this point it will be to tough to tell anything until we see what players are staying or going in terms of the draft.

I think Tennessee loses their entire offensive line, Hardesty is gone, Berry is gone... they might get hit the hardest.

On the other hand UGA will be decent if they can follow up the Texas A&m game with a defense and a qb. They do have talent.

I expect the west to be a little stronger than the east, but you can never tell which side will rise.

Bama will be poised to win the west again until somebody steps up and takes it from them. While we may hate them, they are still the team to beat until proven otherwise.

Take it for what its worth... 2010 will be another crazy year.

Guys i completely agree we have the talent to be one of the top teams in the conference next year. However, in my opinion there are only three sure thing wins on the schedule next year. Clemson is a tough out of coference opponent and any SEC game is a tough game usually, even Miss St is a team that is going to be much better next year. With that said, I do think we win 10 next year.
