Exact replica of Tebow? I would be OK with that!  It looks like he might run as well, but I'm not sure about throwing.  Even though Tebow's throwing motion is criticized, he has one of the top career passing efficiency ratings all time.

lets not compare newton to tebow.. tebow has left the game as *statistically* the best qb to ever play in the SEC and has 2 national championship rings to show for it.. Cam hasn't played a snap for auburn yet.

Let's be honest, Tebow is the greatest quarterback that college football has seen.  I understand that Tebow was surrounded with a ton of talent on both sides of the ball but no other quarterback had his leadership, toughness and combination of abilities to run or throw.  He is the complete college quarterback package and we more than likely won't see another player of his caliber for awhile.

That said, I think Newton has better tons to begin with, his mechanics are better and his feet are better, what remains to be seen is if he can step up as the man and win big games.  Personally, I hope that Newton leaves Auburn with two championship rings of his own but I think the defense really will need another year before we can realistically make a run at the SEC or national championship.

For us to win the SEC next year, I think we have to score about 35 a game, every game and still our defense is going to have to show up for a few games.  Arkansas will put up points next year, Bama will still be a rock on defense and I expect Miss State to be a very solid team on both sides next year.  The only team I think will get worse next year is Ole Miss, they lose a few more pieces of their team and have a crap coach.  LSU will be about the same next year, they will have the talent to play with anyone in the nation but still have no leader on the coaching staff or on the field, they will kill a great team and look like crap the rest of the year like they did this year.

But Newton adds an extra dimension to this O with his legs. We no longer have to throw on 3rd and 3 or longer. Newton will be able to pick up 3 yards on the run easy, considering he is bigger than most LBers in the SEC.

I think our D will be vastly improved next year. Roof is one hell of a coach. And when he has more than 3 LBers to play, he will not play as vanilla. Players are going to have to compete for a spot next year. They know they are not guaranteed to start due to low numbers.

More like Vince Young.

^^^This^^^ with the arm strength of Jamarcus Russell

Please, please, please do not compare him to JaMarcus Russell. As a lifelong Raider fan, that scares the crap out of me. JR is the dumbest person to ever play the position of QB.

lets just to hope he can be a leader and not a thug.  I wonder if he will be able to beat our Caudle.  Caudle is a heck of a QB except with injury problems.

Caudle couldn't beat out Chris Todd. Don't get me wrong, I like Neil, but Cam led his JUCO team to a national championship. I realize that's not the same as playing in the SEC. Still, if Newton can't beat out Caudle for the QB position, we're going to be in trouble next year.

Newton winning a JUCO championship means very little, I've seen his highlight film, I personally believe Newton will start over caudle but im just playing devils advocate.  I think Caudle could play next year, he is a senior

This kid didn't come to Auburn to sit on the bench. Unless he is screws up his grades or comes in acting a fool like Rollison has done then he will be our starter next yr no doubt about it. He reminds me of young from Texas and Freeman from KState. Canon arms, very quick feet, and not easy to bring down one on one. Malzahn is in fantasy land dreaming up plays for this lineup of players he has coming in. I am so excited about this coming season. I can't wait for spring ball! War Eagle all!!!!!

Winning the highest championship at ANY level means something more than very little. That's one of the elements of the game that is not measurable. By the measurables, Brandon Cox wasn't a very good QB...but he knew how to win. When the game was on the line, he got the job done as well as any quarterback in Auburn history.

He's taller than Tebow, and a little thinner but not much. He can take a snap from under center and I would say his accuracy is not as good as Tebow's. However, Malzhan is known for turning chumps into studs so I'm not too concerned with his accuracy. Despite Kodi's trouble throwing the ball lately, Malzhan really worked on his throwing motion and Kodi is getting much more zip on his throws. I expect much, much more QB option/ QB runs if he does win the starting job. He's decently accurate but what separates him from a 4* and 5* (per rivals) is his ability to use his legs to make plays.

Newton is a cross between Jason Campbell and Vince Young. Tebow is a cross between Danny Wuerffel and Bronco Nagurski. The only real similarity is that they are both big, athletic quarterbacks who know how to win. After that, the similarities stop.

If you go back and watch the KU game, Adams would get hit and it knocked the ball loose. But that was fixed by the bowl game. Man Im glad we have Trooper. And I fully expect the RB position to drop off dramaically at Moo St over the next few years.
