Tommy Tubberville to Texas Tech

I will say this, his philosophies fit in the SEC but if he really said that he could make Texas Tech better, wel then he is a fool.  If he couldn't sell recruits on coming to the Plains and couldn't field an offense for ten years at Auburn, he would be lucky to be a .500 coach at Tech.  His defense would be thin and mediocre and get abused in the Big 12 and he knows nothing about an offense and, unless he learned it after he was gone from Auburn, won't let an OC do his job and run it.

I would say that if Texas Tech hired him, he would fail miserably and they wouldn't keep him around 3 years.

I am saying that in case he had an epiphany and realized his biggest mistakes while he was at Auburn.

By saying he could win better in the little 12 / big 3, what's he's really saying is that he couldn't coach in the best conference of coolege football. Even though Tubs won 85 games 1 SEC championship, he was in over his head. He knows it and we know it.

Tubs said that he is trying to put together an O that would work. He said he has been to Oregon, Air Force, South Florida, Texas, and notre Dame to learn.

I actually think that Tubs might get the Baylor job if Bryles leaves.

Well I am a CTT fan and wish him the best.  Texas Tech would be crazy not to hire him.  He is a very respected coach and he would give them a great defense.  If we can find someone to run an effective offense in that league then he would be fine.  Even his old recruiting philosophy could work there since Texas is so rich with talent.  Tubbs will always be an Auburn Man to me.  To belittle the coach that made AU football great for the past 10 years is just short-sighted.

Former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said Thursday he's interested in the Texas Tech opening. "I would be very interested," Tuberville said. "I have family there. I have a lot of ties there. I've recruited Dallas and Houston and I think it would be a pretty good fit. Mike (Leach) did a good job and I think I could make the situation even better."

Tuberville and Baylor coach Art Briles are two logical candidates according to sources familiar with the pending search to replace Mike Leach. Tuberville and Auburn parted ways after his team went 5-7 in his 10th season at the school. In 2004, Tuberville received national coach of the year awards after leading the Tigers to a 13-0 record. Tuberville averaged 8.5 wins in his 10 seasons, taking Auburn to eight consecutive bowls.

I wish nothing but the best for TT

I'm with you, golf. I hate all this Tuberville bashing after all the good he did here on the Plains.

I think he'd do as well as Texas Tech could ask for with their history, but I think his style differs too much from what Texas Tech is about --- Spread offense, scoring 60 points in a game, and giving up 40. It'd be like hiring June Jones at Penn State.

Fixed

Good luck!  His coaching style does not fit.  We know now he wanted out of Auburn.  I am glad we have Chizik at Auburn.  What a job this year!  What a job he is doing in recruiting.  I feel like we have an Auburn man in charge now.  :wedance: :wedance:

I like the way you think man! WAR DAMN EAGLE

Just my personal opinion, but I believe that Texas Tech needs to hire Tuberville if they ever wish to consistently compete in the Big XII.  Yes, they made quiet a run with Leach and were almost in the MNC game a year ago, but the Michael Crabtree's of the world only come around once every 15-20 years.  Right now, Tech is behind UT, OU, and OSU in the south while Baylor and A&M are clearly on the way up.  A Tuberville coached team would actually play a little defense and that'll go a long way in that league.  I just think that it would be a good fit for both sides.  If Tommy goes to a hybrid spread (like I think he planned on doing this year at AU), Tech could easily ascend as the second or third team in the Big XII and legitamately compete with UT and OU on a year-to-year basis.

While I have no problem with Tuberville, except his lack of recruiting prowess, but I believe that he is way too consevitive to ever be successful at Texas Tech. They sport an offense that puts up 500 - 700 yards of offense each game. Tubbervilles team rarely put that up in a month and they would run him out of town so fast at TT if he brought that style of play there.

He would have go outside of his offensive tendencies and stick with a spread oriented offense. While I think he could improve their defensive personnel, he would have to hire a really good offensive coordinator to continue their high octane offense.

Knowing tubs ball controlling tendencies... I just dont think he will mesh well there.

but theres my little dip... im over and out

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. A&M I could see (if the job were open), but I just don't know about Tech.
