Opelika High School

For those running down Opelika High, you are making a big mistake. OHS has put MANY Auburn Tigers on the field. Our legendary coach and athletic director, Spence McCracken is an Auburn man. Sure, we lost Corey Grant this year, but, believe me, many  an Opelika citizen has been working on Corey to get him to switch to Auburn. I don't know what inspired someone to run down OHS and the town of Opelika, but that is just wrong. OHS has put TWICE as many players in Jordan-Hare as Auburn High!!!  Give it a break!

Have you not been to Opelika Rd, right there past the mall? It is not a great area. It is not like Ensley, but still not great. Especially that giant shopping center that is completely vacant except for the Dollar General. Then there is the Pepperell shopping center.

It might not be GREAT but it isn't that bad. I have seen a lot worse in Alabama. Also, Opelika City Schools are pretty good. Every city has a lot of vacant building right now so you really can't compare a city to how many empty building they have

War Eagle!!! My cousin went to Opelika High School, was the starting QB, and safety....went to Auburn as a safety, then moved to LB in his senior year....now he's playing for the Seattle Seahawks...Will Herring ring a bell? I love Opelika...and ur right, more talent comes out of there to Auburn than almost ANYWHERE else

Will Herring.

I have 2 memories of Will Herring.

Him not filling his gap in run support in the 04 SEC championship game that lead to an 80 yard TD run by Gerald Riggs.

And him picking off the pass in the endzone at the end of the '06 South Carolina game to save the W.

Sure some guys go to AU from OHS, but it is still a huge bammer town.

Huge is a bit harsh, if polled, my guess is that the majority actually root for Auburn, just the uneducated minority makes more noise, and is more annoying therefore it appears as if the whole town leans that way, but not true

Yup, i was at both of those games...man was he torn up about not filling that gap against Tennessee! However, that is why he moved from safety to linebacker....04 was a kind of in-between year for him cuz he had started to gain a little weight, therefore lost some speed...which is why he moved to LB and did better at that position...and even though those are the only memories u have, defenders are unsung heroes, and they only get public credit on picks, fumble causes/recoveries, and sacks...but everyone remembers when they mess up. And i have been to opelika quite alot, since i have family there...didnt seem too much like a bammer town....but then again thats probably because my family chose their company wisely lol

What a coincidence, Will's uncle is my dad's chiropractor.  ;)   In all seriousness, my dad (a long-time citizen of Opelika) speaks well of the Herring family - says they (or y'all?) are good folks.

Just a few Opelika High grads who have become Auburn Tigers or who have ties to Auburn. I wouldn't hesitate to say OHS is an Auburn hotbed!

Tez Doolittle

Will Herring

Zach Clayton

T. J. Jackson

Montavian Collier

Brian Smith

Greg Taylor

Lemarcus Rowell

Matthew Motley.. holder for three years, never mishandled a snap

James Voss… AU Nasa astronaut, highly decorated shuttle pilot :wareagle:

Brian Blackmon. head coach .. masters degree from AU

Spence McCracken.. legendary coach, athletic director

Yeah, I am pretty sure that Opelika is more Auburn than Bammers. Fog apparently doesn't know the city very well, as many around the area believe that Opelika is growing at a faster rate than Auburn right now. Why do you think Opelika got Tiger Town. Opelika is also getting another huge shopping center, which will be the largest in the South East as soon as the Bond market returns to its former shape. That will be located at Exit 64, which is also in Opelika. Everyone that I work with are Auburn all the way.

Opelika is an example of a town with a lot of closet Bammers who put their flags on their cars when they are winning. Auburn fans choose not to do that. Its a different type of fan, if you know what I mean.

Will's dad is my grandmother's chiropractor also.

Anyways, IMO Opelika seems to be like most places in Alabama, mostly turd fans and some Auburn fans. I'd say it's pretty equal all around. Don't knock the city either, it's a lot better than most of the rinky dink towns in this area lol.

I'm sure Dothan got the biggest in southeast Bama.

I live in Auburn...but I often shop in Opelika, I go to church in Opelika, I do a lot of things in Opelika...I like Opelika.  But don't fool yourself on Tiger Town.  There's a lot more to that story.  The first choice was an Auburn location and there were a number of problems/challenges that led to them selecting an alternate location.  And I'm glad they did because it's a lot closer to my house now.  WDE!
