DJ Howard visiting Clemson this weekend

DJ Howard (ath Lincoln HS) is visiting Clemson this weekend(story in Anniston Star) he wants to play tailback.

Does he decommit or is he just taking visits? If he doesn't sign ,obviously this would leave us with an open slot. He was projected to be a CB, I think. Does this help or hurt and any additional info?

It wouldn't surprise me if he went to Clemson b/c he really wants to play RB and he is the only other RB left on their board.

Projected as a safety. I think he is a great db prospect but wants to run. Might want to listen to chizik. Has a few dbs starting on Sundays

Honestly, unless he is the most underrated recruit in recruitin history. He will not get many snaps at RB behind Dyer, McCalleb, E.Smith, M.Fannin, Aycock.

Well inside your post lies his problem.He was going to get a shot at it, but look at that list you popped up there. He was not recruited to be in that backfield.

I want Howard to stay and I would not be suprised if he gets a look at RB and excels at it.  If his heart is really at RB and he stays, having Dyer, Omac and whoever else in front of him will just be more motivation to be the best.  Besides he knows AU is building a beast of a recruiting class and Clemson is on our schedule for the next 2 years if Im not mistaken.  If he goes to Clemson he'll lose 3 times in a row: 1st on NSD and twice on the field.

preach it!!! i think he'll have a pretty good career at clemson if he does decide to move his commitment to those other tigers.

I dont think that will happen. Look at those who were recruiting Reed and you will see why. He is coming to AUburn as a WR and will play that very position. Is it possible he could see time at DB? Sure.

With all the talent at WR I do not see why converting to DB would be bad? We have like 511656161 WRS and like 4 Db's . I think it would be a smart choice

Because, the talent level of Reed puts him in a solid position to play regularly. He may play at DB some, but again he is recruited to AUburn as a WR.

My point is this, if Reed was being recruited as a DB, he's easily a 5*... I believe Trovon will play DB more, and come into the offense in 3rd and long situations... I know he's an awesome talent at WR, but he has even more to offer in the secondary... But we will see... I think he'll have a big showing this weekend in the secondary..

I think Gulley will stay at DB. We have a plethora of WRs. But he could be the scout RB.

^^ I agree, I think he will benefit more at db for now... since he has the capabilities to be an "Athlete" im sure we will see him move around... but I think hes main home will be a defensive back.

PFFTTT....Sorry dude. Couldn't disagree more. I think Reed will be to AU what Percy Harvin was to FL. Reed is absolutely awsome and explosive with the ball in his hands. No way they don't put him in a situation to get the ball at AU.

But he's probably our most dynamic WR signee. Explosive, fast, smooth in his cuts. I don't think there is any way he plays DB. If he does, I will get on the board and publicly apologize. I don't see it happening. Reed is awsome. He's the closest thing I've seen to Percy Harvin since he came out of high school.

Reed is going to be the big play ticket that we need to really expand this offense... I agree with Mayor... hes a Percy Harvin type guy that can make plays with his speed and elusiveness... and go up and get the football.

You're right. He is dead set on playing RB in college which might send him to Clemson. AU has told him they will give him a shot at RB since that's where he wants to play, but they think he's got NFL potential at DB.....but he has no interest in playing DB. If I were him, I'd listen to the coaches, take my shot at RB and if it didn't work out make the switch and see what happens. Whether he will or not is still yet to be seen. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him bolt for Clemson which is promising him RB and only RB.

What I don't want to see and it's just for his benefit, is I don't want him to go to Clemson and them switch him to DB and him be sitting there wishing he was at AU. Only time will tell....We'll just have to wait and see what happens. WDE!
