Things can change but my sources told me he is very close to being named the head coach. I am not sure what he will be making money wise.

I think Tech really had to speed things up with Tuberville when the South Florida job opened up.  They may have tried to get him for less if another school wasn't interested.

I think the TT fans will be disappointed in this hire if it goes through.  They are used to 40 points a game and a wide open offense, and that is just not what exCTT will bring with him.  He will need 3-4 recruiting classes to bring in the players to fit his style of coaching, and the Tech fans I know aren't that patient.  Best of luck exCTT!

I live in Texas and know alot of Tech grads.  Tech fans really really want Tuberville.....many are saying that his name, experience is too big for Tech and question whether he will stay.

Oh yeah, no doubt a lot of people around here are asking for him, but I doubt they really know what they are asking for.  That being said, if he keeps the offensive staff intact and focuses on establishing a defense, then they could become scary rather quickly.

Hell, xCTT refused to put up 40 points on a divII team when he could have easily put up 70 on them.. Sorry Texas Tech.

Auburn University is not paying CT. He already has his money. I cannot understand all the Tubbervile bashing. He only won more games at Auburn that 98% of all the major teams in the country over his time. Plus, he dominated the dark side. I realize some think he couldn't recruit (see R. Brown, C. Williams, Jason Campbell, Carlos Rogers, L. Ziemba, R.Pugh, A. Coleman and many, many others).

I believe most people have the "what have you done lately" mindset, and in their minds, exCTT did not do much  the last few years at AU as far as recruiting goes, hence the bashing.

Man I will definitely follow Tubbs at Tech. You can say what you want to about him, but he is a classy guy and always treated everybody with great respect. He may have cooled on the recruiting trail, but he is a good coach. He did own bammer and beat alot of top ten teams. Gotta give him credit on that.

funny how things change....  last year it was auburn toying with bringing leach to auburn and now texas tech is getting auburns old coach...  whew im glad someone saw the light in chizik last year

Exactly.  I met him numerous times and he was always respectful, approachable and cordial.  He is a class act and I will follow his career. After we beat UF when they were #1, he was asked what he would do to celebrate?  His answer was to go home and read his sons a bedtime story.  Can't say I will pull for his team, but under most circumstances, I will

Does anybody else think the Texas Tech's process has been super fast?  Suspend your coach after Christmas, fire him on Dec. 30th, and hire a new coach 10 days later! Tech's admin. just seems really odd.

I think Coach Tubs will do well at TT. He kept the BBQ gang together long enough to get them retirement benfits through the state of Alabama. He said many times that he wanted that for them. He won't try to reunite them at TT. He also won't have the board breathing down his neck every second meddling in the program.

The whole reason for hiring Franklin was that he wanted to go to a spread oriented offense. If he will get out of his OCs way and let him run his offense he should be fine.
