Tiger Pride-How I Became a Fan

I transferred to Auburn back in '06 and just recently graduated in May '09.  My first season as an Auburn fan started in '04.  A friend of mine had a pair of season tickets and told me that any time I could make it up to Auburn from Mobile, I had a ticket waiting on me.  It was a great year to become an Auburn fan.  I fell in love with the school, tradition, and fans.  I went out and bought my first Auburn hat and t-shirt after my first game and wore them proud to every game after.  We got tickets to the SEC championship that year, got on Game Day, got pics with Lee Corso, and had a great time. In 2005, I got to see my first Iron Bowl.  It was an incredible feeling being there watching the fans go crazy every time Croyle was sacked. In 2006, I started school at Auburn.  With my work schedule, I was only able to go to the LSU and Florida game.  Those were two of the best games I have ever been to.  I wasn't able to attend any games in '07 so I made sure I bought '08 student tickets the next year.  That was a bad time for Auburn football.  My friend Davis (guerra aguila) and I were pumped up about Tony Franklin, Kodi Burns, Fannin, and the whole offense.  That was a tough year to be a fan but I still wore my Auburn hat and t-shirt proudly and supported my team through the craziness of that season.  With the coaching change, I didn't know what to think.  I was mostly mad at Charles Barkley for making us look worse and then all my Bama friends giving me a hard time about being an Auburn fan.  Davis was always a good person to talk to about the ups and downs of our football team lately.  He always kept me believing in Auburn and knew everything would get better.  The 2009 season came around and things got better and I got married on Sept. 5 (yeah, the season opener but we watched the game afterwards).  It was a great season and now I'm getting that feeling that I had back in the 2004 season.  I decided to go to Bama Fever Tiger Pride today and buy a new Auburn hat and t-shirt.  My old hat and shirt have been through some great games but I'm ready for a fresh start and I wanted to kick it off right. Although I was the only Auburn fan in the place, I was proud to be an Auburn Tiger. I'm proud of our staff and our players and I am ready for the 2010 season.  I have a good feeling about this one. Sorry for the long post.  Share your story if you like. War Eagle!!!

Wow....great post! '04 was my first year attending school at Auburn, and man was it electric!!! Ill never forget being in the endzone student section seats when Courtney Taylor caught a TD pass in my lap to beat LSU 10-9...and you're right about getting that feeling again cuz im getting it too...that tingle in my spine, that pride that makes me gasp a little and tightens my chest, that feeling like you don't even have to wear Orange and Blue(but still you do) because it HAS to be radiating off of you, like light or a scent....it's in the air. Much like the sun, Auburn spirit never goes away, it just shines brighter in some seasons, and our near future is very bright with Auburn spirit....War Damn Eagle.

I was talking to my bama 'friends' the other day and they just couldn't understand why I was an Auburn fan.  They kept bringing up how well known Alabama is nationally and how little Auburn is know about.  All i needed to say about that and to anybody as to why I believe in auburn...

I'm not a fan because the world knows about Auburn, i'm a fan because i know about Auburn.  Nuff said  :wareagle:

Guest auburn warrior

i became interested in football  in 2003 when i was in 6th grade , my dad told me my aunt was a lsu fan but she died while i was still a baby, then i asked who went for auburn he told me a few of my cousins did, he then said he and the rest of my family went  for alabama, i then chose between lsu and auburn, but auburn won the battle

My father told me the story of how I became an Auburn fan by telling some friends of his...it went kind of like this: I was born, and Dad handed the nurse an Auburn blanket to wrap me in. I was the kid watching reruns of Auburn football games, jumping up and down in my tightie whities screaming "WAR EAGLE!!" at the top of my lungs the whole way through. I watched the Interception Game (LSU 94) tape so many times it broke. See, my parents met at Southern Union in Wadley before they transferred to Auburn, so I've been bleeding orange and blue since the blood started pumping through my veins...Auburn born, Auburn bred, and when I die, I'll be Auburn dead!!! :wareagle:

I grew up 45 mins from UGA. Hershel Walker was a demi-god in those days in Georgia. I Had no clue where Bo Jackson played his college ball nor did I know anything about his college career. I had never heard of Auburn until my Senior year of HS. After I took the SAT I started getting letters from colleges all across the country -mostly the south. After some research, I found that Auburn was one of the biggest Universities close to my home so I scheduled a visit with my parents. I was on campus for 10 minutes and I fell in love with this place!! :happydance:

That's why sometimes it's hard for me to hear about recruits visiting and still taking forever to decide if they want to come to Auburn.  I told my friends back home that this place was magical and even the grass was the most green grass I'd ever seen and it was the middle of winter on my visit! (I later learned that they colored the grass across from Foy ).  I loved this place from day one in 1989.  However I didnt become a fan (football) until 1993..but that is another tale. :we:

Great post!  I know where you are coming from.  I was Auburn at birth and I will be Auburn at death!
