Silent Commits?

How often do you guys think recruits actually give programs silent commitments? Does anyone know of any that we've had in the last year or so? Do we have any yet for this 2011 class?

All the time i expect. Coaches and players won't say after they've signed that they have been silent committs all along.

You could say hyperthetically, that Kris Frost could be a silent right now, enjoy the process, and sign on signing day.

Like i said, you never know.

Just from observation...

I think the trend in seeing this more and more is the Coaching staff opting to keep some silent to relieve undue pressure for kids who committ from other areas whose home state schools carry a high influence where they live, and a large percentage fan base.

Kiehl was given the option to remain silent...after consideration he felt his committment would be better served if made public so he could help the recruiting effort.

Thats great to hear. Our coaches really do care about these kids.

As for Kiehl, very brave of him. I think he is going to be an excellent leader for this team. I think Dyer did something similar to this last year, and we all see what a great asset he was to our recruiting last year. We are getting some great people to Auburn guys!

AUsoildergrad,

There is always going to be detractors, critics, and cynics. It's just people. Having said that though, most have been gracious, understanding and even supportive.

Kiehl is very affable and gentle in nature (except on the gridiron), that's it's hard to just blatantly bash him.

He is the main recruit I had in mind when I came up with this topic. :wareagle:

I hope we already have another commit who fits this same discription... maybe from Louisiana!?  ;)
