I'm glad to see our coaches are keeing their promise to Ryan. How many of you believe Ryan will play QB this fall or sometime in the future?

I think they will let Ryan redshirt and be the scout team QB (Clint's turn is over). Then he will switch to DB his rFr year since his athleticism will be wasted as the 4th string QB.

Yep.  That sounds about right.

Hes going to play everywhere but QB... he could be used in certain packages, but I think his future will be on special teams and DB.

Have anyone seen film on Ryan as a cornerback? If so, could you please share with us. I have seen him as a qb but not much as a cb. I heard he is shifty and quick, I would like to see. I hope this year and the years to come we have nothing but shut down conerbacks.

I have seen some clips on Rivals... unfortunately I cant post them right now because im on break at work. Hes a very athletic kid and he is going to make a lot of plays with his abilities until he can catch up mentally.

No doubts in my mind that this kid has a chance to contribute a good 15-20 defensive plays a game.

Thanks GA, I'll be checking often to see when you post them.

I need to ask a question for my information only, and it is NOT meant to be critical or sarcastic.  We have all "gloated" over the Corey Grant move to DB and my question is:  Did we handle this Ryan White situation better or differently than the turds did?  Again, I'm just trying to increase my knowledge in this area, and am not trying to start a peeing contest.

I certainly have no idea, but I have seen posters on here say that Grant was promised he would stay at RB, while I've seen others say that the Auburn coaches would "give a player a shot at a position" rather than telling them they would stay there.

I know that doesn't answer your question, but if I were trying to put a positive spin on this from an Auburn angle that would be my answer.

If we did not sign a QB this year, there was a chance that Ryan would have seen the field at QB, but with Keihl coming in next season and Cam only being a junior (not to mention Barrett Trotter and Clint Mosley with a couple of years left), the chances of Ryan playing QB are slim to none.  He needs to concentrate on being the best DB he can be if he wants to play on Sundays.......just sayin'

Pops, Chizik and Ryan both have stated he would get a shot at qb first and if that didn't work out then he would move to another position that would benefit the team. Ryan knew he would possibly switch positions before he signed a LOI.  I believe the coaches presented him with a proposition to ponder and he took it. I don't think they made him from what I have been reading.

Just read that they moved him back to DB and said he has some catching up to do. Makes me think that this move is for good.

that was my understanding of it, i think he would be better off and his talents would be put use more efficiently at db

I believe his LOI he signed was as a DB.  I think it was just an understanding that he'd get a shot at QB between he and the coaches.  At least this is what I've heard.  I know nothing for sure, it just seems to make the most sense to me, especially since no one outside the program really even knew he'd be practicing at QB until very close to August practices.  Take it with a grain of salt.

Pops my understanding was that he was recruited to play DB but would be given a shot at QB. He knew this coming in and was ok with that. The coaches gave him his shot then they sat and talked and all agreed it would be best to move to defense. Corey Grant was recruited to play RB and had no idea or any intention of moving to defense.

i wondered about that when i saw it. i thought he wanted to play slot receiver like marqese maze or thats what he was told he would do. during his recruitment i never heard any defense talk for him.
