I can neither confirm nor deny this story about the origin of Machete Man...

I can only report what I believe to be true. 

It is the name given to Aundray Bruce following a rumored incident at the athletic dorm at the time.  Supposedly, his roommate (a player whose name I don't remember), brought his date back to their room, thinking they were alone.  Unfortunately for the couple, only later did they discover they were not.

Aundray was hidden in a closet, in his underwear, and when the timing was right, jumped out wielding a machete.

He was immediately dubbed "Machete Man" by my friend and I.  And we don't know if 9-1-1 was dialed that evening, but had it been me, the cardiac response team would had been dispatched, along with a mop and bucket for a cleanup.
