Out of Nowhere players

Every year, one or two players comes out of nowhere to have a huge year even though you never coud have predicted it. Last year, they were Darvin Adams and Daren Bates. Who will they be this year? The team has a much more solid foundation and there arent a lot of roles where someone can come in unexpectedly. Nobody was left at wide reciever, and injuries to Savage and McNeil forced Bates in. So who comes out of nowhere?

My Guess: Jonathan Evans, had a good game against Bama of course and was named a starter in the spring. Only a sophomore, this guy will be the leader of the LB corp in 2011 and 12 after a breakout year this time around.

and Phillip Lutz. So much attention will be put on Cam and the WR's in the passing game, that a good recieving tight end/H-back could really thrive in the offense.

I agree that those are two players that could have big year if there was a spot for them. Right now a veteran safety is already going to be out of the starting lineup, and I am can't say what White is going to do since he's trying to be a QB. Also I think we'll have a breakout player at PR, whoever it may be.

Now when you say out of nowhere, do you mean...

A. There were some good things said about the player, but he had never produce on the field before, but this season he came on the field and stole the shoe... or

B. Nobody knew who this kids even was, let alone that he was even on the team until he stole the show on the field

T-Bell. Everybody was impressed by him in the Outback Bowl, yet with Savage, McNeil, and Etheridge returning from injury, many people have written him off. I think he comes through big time this year as a nickel back

I agree, but I'm not sure he's coming out of nowhere.  He just hasn't played a game yet.

Kodi Burns...I've got this feeling that he's going to become a very important and good possession WR.

In the first day videos, Kodi caught a pass in the flat that was low and away(just like he used to throw), then put a really cool move on someone.  I was more impressed with that than TR's catch!!  Kodi is a really good athlete!!

Not one player in particular but I see the entire Defense coming out of nowhere to surprise the SEC.

Only way I see this is if we finally stay healthy for a season.  To me that is the most disturbing thing I have seen the past few seasons, the injury bug on our team.

As for the out of nowhere player, I will take Lutz and Eric Smith.  The h back spot is opened up and it is a good spot to get touches from.

Yeah, the injury report will have to remain a short list.  If I had to pick two from the D that will come out of nowhere, well not really out of nowhere but maybe out of the back of the pantry, Aairon Savage and Mike McNeil.

From the O, I agree about Eric Smith, but I also see Benton and Q-Carr coming to the front.

Ditto

Wouldn't it be an awesome story if Burns turned into a Steve Largent-type receiver?  After all he has been through, it would be a great reward for his loyalty to Auburn.

if he can stay healthy, i say zach clayton could possibly turn in an all sec performance. the kid is strong as an ox, and hopefully with some routine substitutions he won't get injured.

IMO, Jessel Curry is being overlooked and I think he will surprise a lot of people.  On Offense, I pick John Sullen.

DITTO on Jessel, but I think Reed will be a big surprise on offense and special teams.

I'm not sure if "surprise" would be the right description of Reed, he's good and we all know he's gonna do great things.  I picked Sullen, because of his size and the fact he was good enough to play pretty well last year.  With a year under CJG he might surprise us.

I hope that you are right on this one, I am longing to see AU play defense like we use to.

Eric Smith is definitely not out of nowhere.

The defense has a year to be great. Then we go back to rebuilding with Chizik's recruits.

We lose Carter, Goggans, Blanc, Clayton, Bynes, Stevens, Washington, Ethridge, and Savage. Thats at least 2 starters from each unit.

Defensive player - Nick Fairley.

Offensive player - Mario Fannin.

I realize that everybody might be expecting big things from Fannin, but I think he might have an unbelieveable year.
