The Duke 0
Two big-time prospects visited Auburn this past weekend. Both of them came away very impressed. *TE/DE Stephon Tuitt Tuitt has offers from almost all big-time college football programs. He would like to cut his very long list down to the few that he will visit this fall very soon. Tuitt made the trip in part of DE Ray Drew telling him how great Auburn and it's coaching staff is. *DT Gabe Wright Wright visited Auburn this past weekend and came away as impressed as ever. He said the Tigers remain the team to beat. He doesn't plan to make a decision anytime soon. He also went on to say that he will be on the Plains for several games this fall. It appears at this time that Wright is a heavy Auburn lean. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Rumors are swirling that Auburn will land at least 2 more commitments in August. That remains to be seen whether they will or not but Auburn is in great shape with several big-time prospects. I expect another great finish for Auburn and this coaching staff on the recruiting trail. As of right now, the Clemson and Georgia home games appear to be very big recruiting weekends for Auburn. Most of the big-time prospects will be making the trip to the Plains for at least one of the two games. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ As some of you may already know, Auburn made the latest cut for CB Valdez Showers. He cut his very long list of offers down to 6. He hasn't made a trip to the Plains yet but he hopes to make to to make it down. He said he can't guarantee a visit but said he would like to. His top 6 consists of: Auburn, Iowa, Michigan, Florida, Northwestern and Michigan State.

Shift 352
Thanks for the update. Looks like Drew is already recruiting for Auburn? Sounds like Drew already knows where he's going............ Also, not sure why Showers has NW, Iowa and Michigan State so high on his list. Why is he considering those three?
aubtigerfan21 0
Great to hear. I was suspecting the the LSU and UGA games to be big recruiting weekends, but Clemson is just fine as well. It doesn't matter when they come as long as they come
DJ_Hatch 0
Thanks for the update. Looks like Drew is already recruiting for Auburn? Sounds like Drew already knows where he's going............ Also, not sure why Showers has NW, Iowa and Michigan State so high on his list. Why is he considering those three? Per Rivals: Northwestern was the first school to extend Showers an offer back in early February. He made a visit to Evanston for a Junior Day shortly after picking up the Wildcats' offer. Michigan State offered Showers a month later and he has made several visits to East Lansing, the most recent taking place last week. Showers has also made frequent visits to Michigan, even before receiving an offer from the Wolverines in April. He attended their Elite one-day camp in June, but did not work out. Showers also attended a camp at Florida in June, but this time he did work out and that performance earned him an offer from the Gators. Showers has never visited Auburn or Iowa, and he said on Wednesday that although he would like to see each school before deciding, he is not sure whether that will happen. "With my schedule it will be really impossible to make it to [more] schools," Showers said. "I haven't been to Auburn or Iowa and I really wanted to make it to those schools, but if I feel the time comes for me to commit, then I've got to do what's right." Per Scout: SHOWERS: WHY EACH SCHOOL MADE THE CUT FLORIDA - "Great coaching staff. Urban Meyer's a great guy. They're in a great location, and they compete for a national championship every year." AUBURN - "The coaching staff. I've been down there. I love the school." MICHIGAN STATE - "Great coaching staff, the degree, location, and I feel comfortable with the staff." MICHIGAN - "Great staff, great degree and great tradition." NORTHWESTERN - "Great degree. Me and Coach Fitzgerald have a great connection." IOWA - I've been talking to Coach Parker and he wished me luck this season. I feel a lot of love from them."

LakeBum 187
at least the rivals and scouts stories line up! Except that in Rival it said "Showers has never visited Auburn or Iowa," and in Scout it said "AUBURN - "The coaching staff. I've been down there. I love the school." Anyway, while it seems like he will be a very good (and fast) DB, I doubt we have room for him in this class. I have a feeling the coaches know about who they plan to sign in Feb already, with maybe one or two exceptions...... They are way ahead of where our previous coaches were at this point in the year. Rickys Rants 0
I am hoping that some of the big name recruits we are chasing are 'silent commitments' and our staff knows who is signing in February! DWWD!

TerritorialTigers 0
How many more DE's are we taking in the 2011 class? I know it's a good thing to hear Drew suggesting Tuitt take a visit to AU but do you guys think he's pushing Tuitt because he maybe wanting to sign with another team? I know it's too early but I was just wondering? Doesn't seem like something Drew would do but I don't know him personally and you never know. aupops2 9
Not based on what I've seen and heard about Ray Drew; he appears to be a very special young man.

It's entirely possible that Drew is leaning elsewhere but still really likes AU and knows we have an opening for one or maybe even two more DE, so he tells his friend Tuitt that he should check out AU because they're cool and they're looking hard for an elite DE. That's a reasonable scenario.
WDavE 332
If we do steal a recruit from Michigan, I hope that it is the (RB) Hart. He looks like a perfect fit for this offense.
DJ_Hatch 0
It looks like our friends at rivals and scout have conflicting info on whether he has been to Auburn. He's NEVER been, a4ever. I can verify that. I don't know why he said that to Scout. They are bad about misprinting sometimes, maybe they did it there, or maybe Showers simply mispoke. Either way, he's never been on campus, but that speaks volumes that he would STILL name us as a finalist!
