Guest In the Village
The NCAA should change the rules. Kid screws up the scholarship release should be limited by the school he is attending. Coach screws up and dismisses Kid, or grayshirts, for no reason other than the coach oversigned athletes or he found someone better, the kid should get full release with no limitation. AuburnGrad78 0
This is an excellent article to continue the discussion began yesterday on the Harrison Jones article: I disagree with those who say that the rule should be changed, and coaches should be allowed to sign more. The original intent of the rule was to keep coaches (i.e., BEAR) from stockpiling players. As it is now, coaches can stockpile players for one or two years, then cut them loose. Coaches can make the effort to stay under the 85 limit, with natural attrition decisions (TRUE injuries, suspensions), without grayshirts and yanked scholarships. To allow a $4 million/year coach to treat a student-athlete that way is unconscionable, and the coaches should be ashamed. If Auburn starts doing that next year, I will consider it a shame. College football is a business to the extent that everyone allows it to be.
