Scout has updated their recruiting rankings

Recommended Posts

Auburn is now 9th, up from 11th and Jonathan Rose has gotten his 4th star back. We now have seven 4* according to Scout.

This is going to be great season on the field and in recruiting.   :we:

Two observations:  Look at the average star ratings (last column on right), of the teams ranked 5-10.  All pretty close.  The lowest at 3.31 is #8 LSU, and I would have thought they would be much higher.  Second, probably EVERY non-4 star recruit should rise to 4 during the season!!  WDE!!

I like to look at the average star rating on these types of poles, because I think that is the equalizer when comparing different numbers of commits.  One observation is that there are only 5 schools ahead of us with a higher star average.  That is pretty good, however, I don't think that stars mean that much at this point.  You are talking about rating HS players when they have yet to play the most important season up to this point in their career.  We don't know how much the stars are based on potential (that they might not live up to this year) or how many will blossum into a Star their senior season.  The rankings will mean more after the HS football is over.  But it is still fun to look at and track, especially when there is no real football to watch.

We're just getting started. Several big dogs are going to "walk late" to the Plains.

I agree with that to a certain point. Players like Devin Gaulden improved his stock by the way he performed at Summer camps. He was a virtual unknown as a football player and shined against some of the southeast top WRs. The fact that he has played football only one season, shows the kind of raw potential he possess.

I'm very excited that we are ranked in the top 10, but I am much more impressed by the fact that we seem to be meeting our needs extremely well. I look at some other teams' classes and the starpower is there for sure, but they are not really putting the best pieces together. I think when it's all said and done we have both a top 10 class and a class that adds depth at all key positions.

Not to get too hung up on other team rankings but the Sabanites currently only have 9 scholarships available next year, 2 which will be used for "grayshirts from this year" and they already have 16 commitments for the remaining 7 spots. I don't see how they can sign too many more without kicking a lot of guys off their bus....so they will drop down the rankings because team ranking is highly skewed by total number of signees.

Of course, we are going to be in that boat next year, as our junior class is very, very small, which means we will not be able to offer too many spots next year unless we have some unusual attrition.

WDE!

If we have a good year some players will bolt and if not the staff will start handing out walking papers.

I thought Frazier might become a 5 star after his performance in the elite 11.

He was good, but perfromed up to about where he is currently ranked from what I hear.

If he has another year like last year, I don't see any way that they can NOT give it to him!  :we:

Any possiblity of denson, coates, or o'reilly get a fourth star depending on their senior seasons.

Denson will likely be a 250 member on the next rankings release.

Denson most likely will and O'reilly could easily get to a 4th star with a good senior year. It will be tough for Coates to get there but I wouldn't rule him out to get an extra star

This looks great ..... especially with who we have left on the board!!   :wareagle:

There WERE a few "head scratchers"! Rodney Coe lost his 5* ranking, but that's not that bad... Spencer Region lost his 4*, but that's probably about right... and then there were the two that just made me say "HUH?" Kris Frost dropped to a 3*, and most luring of ALL... Ray Drew dropped to a 4* and dropped down to the #8 DE! If you can show me SEVEN DE's in this class that are BETTER than Drew, I'll eat my socks!  :P Sometimes, I just don't get these ranking systems! I think they throw darts!

FTR, though, I am NOT one of those "AU prospects get dropped on purpose" conspiracy theorists! I don't subscribe to "Tinfoil Hats Weekly" either!

Seriously, I do not see how that is even possible.

It's exciting to see our guys get bumped in the ratings and it's disappointing when they get dropped, but what I'm about to say might be as true as anything I've ever said....

Scout rankings for football=FAIL
