Josh Moon predicts AU 8-4

Recommended Posts

Josh Moon of the Montgomery Advertiser has us losing to Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, and 'Bama. I don't think we lose to Ole Miss. I think we beat LSU this year too. The other two do scare me.

I'm a little confused on the rules of posting links; I'll provide the link if requested.

The rules, as far as I know are just don't post premium content word for word. You can summarize, but don't copy and post. Since the Advertiser article is probably free, there's no hang up on that. Also, in my best "Allen from the Hangover" voice....Josh Moon is a reTARD.

Who the frack is Josh Moon?  The other day, my 4 year old daughter told me that Auburn was going undefeated, followed by a loud "Waaaaarrrrrrr Eagle, Hey!!!"

I think I'll go with my daughter on this one.

Weagle, Mayor, thanks for the clarification. The link is posted below. Moon says Ole Miss has better defensive line, more accomplished quarterback, among other things. I assume he's talking about Masoli; didn't mention that he has to learn a whole new offense. We'll see. War Eagle.

She's already proven she's more intelligent than all bammerham news sportswriters. I have no doubt she can take Montgomery down too.

She is a future Tiger, that is for sure.  She loves going to the games, and likes to rile up the pre-K class (we live in Georgia) by shouting "War Eagle, Hey!" constantly during football season.

Makes a father proud!

Moon is a journalist. Nothing more, nothing less. His thoughts may appear to be reputable because he has a pretty fair grasp on the English language, but at the end of the day, he's just a guy with a journalism degree writing about sports. His opinion is about as reputable as those you'll find on bleacherreport.com.

if we lose 13 of our projected starters guys we will go 8-4.  Josh needs to stick with car wrecks and business mergers.  We will have at a minimum 10 wins this year with what we have on O. If all step up on D and the 3 vets we have coming back from injury play vital roles.  THat win total will increase.

I am going to go with your daughter's prediction too.  War Eagle Hey!  Josh Moon is a fool that doesn't know enough about football to even guess the scores.  I guess he thinks there will be a lot of safeties this year against Auburn.  His article deserves a Pffft!

Before everyone starts going off on this guy remember that the Vegas odds makers have us at 8.5 games so to say this guy is an idiot only makes you look like a flaming homer.  We have a number of games on the schedule that will be very close and we should pull out but a couple of mistakes or injuries could easily make for an eight win regular season or God forbid even a seven win.

Right now we simply do not have enough EXPERIENCED depth to guarantee that we have an automatic 9-10 win season.

This article certainly isn't the reason I have the opinion of Moon that I do, but your comment about Vegas odds makers only serves to strengthen it. Maybe he'll turn out to be right; there's no telling at this point. However, to me it seems as if that comment about "warm[ing] up the e-mail machines" looks to be a blatant shout for controversy, which is exactly what he wants. The more he stirs things up, the more traffic that website gets. The more traffic it gets, the more they can charge for advertising on the website. It's not too complicated.

I think we get 9, maybe 10 wins this season. I would say we lose to Bama and right now I say we have a 60% chance of losing to Akrnasas. I think we might slip up one other sport too, whether is be Clem, SC, LSU, Miss, or UGA.

I'm right there with you on the 9-10.  Actually right now I can't even get most of my Bama friends to take a bet on AU's likely record for the season since none are willing to take a bet that we get at least nine wins (but to be fair I am also refusing to take a bet for a ten win season until after I know we don't lose anyone to injury during two a days).

In all honesty I wouldn't be shocked this year to see anything between 7-11 wins (though I'd be highly disappointed by 7 or 8).

I think Arkmart and Clemson turn out to be our toughest tests, with UGA and Bammer closely behind.  Using my Orange and Blue glasses, here is my take on the upcoming season, in no particular order.

I just don't think bammer can overcome what they lost on defense.  They will still be good, but their defense won them many games last year.  Putting the game on McElroy's shoulders, I just don't see him winning every game for them.  I could have been their QB last year (I just threw up as I typed that) and won every game.  With their running game and lock down defense, all McElroy had to do was not run into the wrong endzone in several games, and they win.  Bammers will say he "orchestrated the winning drive" against us, but let's be serious.  Whooolio was wide open on 2 or 3 consecutive pick plays to get them 50 yards down the field, and our depleted defense just let one play really burn them on that touchdown (just threw up again thinking about this).

UGA will be a scary game, because they seem to have our number, and Richt is going to be coaching like a man about to be fired all season.  They are bringing in a new defense, which will be tough, but they will have 9 games to work out the kinks before they face us.  Key here is pressuring the QB, and shutting down AJ Greene (no small task).  I have faith in our secondary this year, and the Bull will take care of the QB.  For some reason, I look for this to be an outstanding game for Eltoro.

LSU could be a threat, but I think they have cashed in all their "bulls--t" IOU's over the past couple of years, and Jefferson just doesn't scare me as a QB.  Les Miles is not the coach his record makes him out to be, and he is gonna get Chizzed on this year.

Our defense will be much upgraded this year, and able to stay fresh against Arkmart's offense, so I think this game will be much different than last year.  Cam's ability to keep the ball to convert first downs, and LaDarious Phillips availablilty for short yardage will keep the offense on the field, and the defense fresh.  It'll be a shootout, but I think we take this one at home.

Clemson is an unknown.  Good coach, really good QB, but no CJ Spiller.  He was Clemson last year.  Plus, they lost a couple of elite receivers, too.  I could handle dropping this game, since it is out of conference, but I think we just have too much in our favor playing them at Jordan Hare.

A game that scares me, and that I will be at, is the MSU game.  Thursday night, at Starkville, cowbells ringing.  I like Dan Mullen, but I don't plan on leaving that stadium with my head down for this game.  I think we take this one.  I also think this will be an explosive game for Cam.  His way of telling all the critics that he can beat an SEC defense, and not just by running the ball.  We have numerous weapons to throw to, and a stable of RB's that can match up with any defense.

South Carolina is another scary game.  Spurrier is always capable of bringing a fully prepared team onto the field.  I think this game will be close, but our advantage will be Jordan Hare.  It's difficult to come into Jordan Hare this early in the season, and not be intimidated.  Lattimore will get to experience what he turned down to stay at home.  For some reason, though, this game scares me more than I wouldl like to admit.

Kentucky is going to get payback for the gift we gave them.  Enuff said.

All said and done, I am hoping for 12 wins, will be ecstatic with 10 wins, and will be happy no matter what, because I am an Auburn Tiger.  War Damn Eagle!!!

this guy is a complete idiot. How the hell does he expect a team as good as Auburn to give up 3 safetys to the 2 worst teams we play this year? How stupid do you have to be to make this prediction? Safetys happen so rarely when good teams play each other much less when a team from the SEC plays a scrub team. This guy should never be able to write a sports piece again just due to the scores from those 2 games.

You have to consider the source with Moon. He is a bit whacked out sometimes on a lot of subjects; not just sports. I`m saying he just can`t help it really.

Honestly I wouldn't be too disappointed with 8-4(and a bowl win), but I do think this Auburn team has the potential for 10-11 wins this year.

What's new about that most would have said snead was more accomplished than todd last year, most would have taken ole miss's defensive line instead of ours outside of a coleman last year, most would have even said that ole miss had a player that we could not match with dexter mccluster but in the end we beat ole miss last year and I expect we will hold our own again this year.

Anybody who predicts a score of 4 points for anybody, obviously don't know a whole lot about football, I know its possible, but the odds are astronomical, kinda like the odds that this guy ain't the biggest turd this side of slimebalm.

I actually know Josh Moon because I went to high school with him and I graduated with his brother.  While he is a really nice guy, his writing leaves a lot to be desired.  Oh yeah, he is a bammer..although his best friend is an AU grad and good guy as well.

Actually, from a literary perspective, I like his writing. It's the content I take issue with.
