When will we see Byrum's dribble onside this year?

It was a good plan saving it for the the IB last season. When do you think we will see it this year? Im think we will see it in the SC game. That is a must win game early in the season.

Also would it be a good idea to give whomever is doing the kickoffs (if its not Byrum) the same number as Byrum so teams would not notice when he takes the feild?

Honestly I'd rather not do it again. Everyone will see tht footage from the ib and will practice to defend it. If I was a hc I know I would. It's a play with a huge upside but huge downside as well if it goes wrong. Byrum played it perfectly in the ib, and it was beautiful, but that's ridiculously hard to do. But still, look for some more tricks to be seen this year I'm sure they've got a few stashed somewhere.

I expect CP to be handling KO duties.....and if you are getting touchbacks on every kickoff, only onside kick would be if we were behind in the 4th Q, which I hope we never are this year.....

WDE!

Chizik seems to be pretty aggressive, I think we'll do a pre-emptive onside kick again at some point this year.  My guess would be that it will have a completely different look than the one used for last year's IB, though.  That's the key; have to make it look different, otherwise, yeah, it'll be recognized easily.  Those worried about risk should watch the replay of that play.  No Bama player got within 10 feet of the football.  It wasn't even close to being anyone's ball but Byrum's.  I think we should do it again but it has to look completely different.

You explained why I'm concerned about it actually. I loved that we did it in the iron bowl and there it was a lot lower risk because no one had seen it or knew we had it in our arsenal. Now is a different story though. Our opponents will be on the lookout for it, so this a much greater risk to it. I agree with everything you said. I do expect to see some new trickery on special teams, but I don't wanna see this exact play again, at least this year

He did it in '08, I just don't remember who it was against.

Correct sir. We did it in 2008 @ West Virginia.

Why not go for an unexpected onsides? That kick has worked twice. Chances are pretty good it will work again. Some of all are so soft. We should be afraid to do anything. Guess Peyton should not have kicked that onsides in the Super Bowl, just incase they did not recover.

Depends entirely on the situation, especially momentum. Like last year, the terds were not used to having to come back, so we used the opportunity at a good time.

If we do not have to do it during the season, I would not be surprised to see it during a bowl game.
