What Eltoro's Move Means

The latest article on Eltory states that he has been moved back to OLB to back up Stevens after being moved to MLB in the spring. What significance does this have though? Here's my theory.

Jessel Curry has been stellar since he got on campus, and was pushing for the backup linebacker job. Since he will be here for so long, they decided to give him the time there. With Curry filling in there Freeman can backup Bynes, and may even push Jonathan Evans for the starting spot. The 6th position in the 2 deep belongs to Darren Bates, the utility man.

Incoming freshmen contributing at LB will be the BIGGEST difference maker in our defense this season!  Going from 3 deep to 6 deep will be HUGE, and will allow Coach Roof to run different schemes (including blitzes) once the freshmen adjust to the speed of the game!  DWWD!

I don't think any of the freshmen will start, but they will get meaningful playing time, which will rest the starters and keep 'fresh legs' on the field!  WDE!

Actually, they'll be 10 deep. Freeman, Bynes, Stevens, Bates, Evans, Gaston, Holland, Owens, Curry, and White

Bates will start and Curry is too small to play middle lb, I'm not sure what the move means for Eltoro other than Roof trying to find the best place for him.

If the Bull can learn his assignments and just play football he will be one of the best we have ever had.  He can flat out lay the lumber.  Coach Roof loves to play take away football and get a lot of turnovers.  Eltoro fits this perfectly,  if he plays within the defensive system.

I think they are all going to play. Freeman may start one game while Evans starts another... depending on what type of offenses we are facing.

I honestly dont think you can go wrong with any of the top 6 guys... thats the beauty of having depth. They will rotate throughout the game and stay fresh. Sure the starting unit will see more action in the first half, but as the game wears on, we will need them all.

according to an interview with Chizik the other night, the only one of the Freshman LB's working exclusively at MLB is Jake Holland, all the others are primarily working at the "Will" and "Sam" spots
