Zeke Smith's number should also be retired along with Tracy Rocker. Zeke was on the 1957 (10-0) national championship team and he won the Outland Trophy in 1958.

Can't say I disagree with you on that one a4e. It may happen sometime. Zeke is on the right in the picture. He doesn't look to happy. Plus I think the nose has been broken a few times.

Great pic golf. Folks have to remember they played both ways back then. No face masks!!! So the probability of a broken nose was pretty high. They were some pretty tough hombres back then. I didn't know Zeke very well but I did know his future wife very well. Just a friend. Judy was her name and was she a trip!! Spoke with a lisp that everbody that knew her loved. Great gal and pretty good looking to boot. Don't know what happened  to them in later life, I just hope they survived.

I met Zeke a couple of yrs ago, he looked good, but age was catching up with him.  Loved his spirit, and passion for Auburn!  Really enjoyed speaking with him.  Not sure where he's at, what he's doing now.  I assume he lives somewhere close by to Auburn, maybe bammerham?  I met at a party during the summer 3 yrs ago in Auburn.

Heard the question of the day on Sportscall re: whose number to retire next?  My vote would definitely be split, one for Tracy and one for Zeke.  Both were exceptionaly athletes and excelled at their positions to win their respective positional awards.  If I had to make one vote this yr, then I would make mine for Zeke this year (due to first come first serve) and Tracy next.  I got to watch Tracy live and on tv, never got to watch Zeke (wasn't around then), but heard all of the stories from my dad, immediate cousins and uncles, Dyas cousins and uncles, etc, you know folks who got to watch Zeke back in the day.

WDE!!!
