Man can you feel it?

My guts are as tight as piano strings! Just about three weeks from now, we will be watching this years version of the AUBURN TIGERS!! We were so close last year at being  special. We played young at times, and Lord knows we were thin ,thin ,thin on D. Still even with youthful mistakes, and a thin at position team, we made a bit of a splash in the SEC.

I was thrilled at times with the offence, and wondered at others, just what we were missing. Let's face it Arky, and LSU spanked us pretty well. I beleived in my heart ,Gene hired Malzan in order to outscore people, plain, and simple. The best thing in the world is to hang points up. I also know Gene knew exactly how thin the D was going to be. My hats off to Roof. I think he did a great job in the face of massive adversity, which would have made a lesser man throw up his hands, and say I quit. We survived on family, and guts last year.

Now it's a new day. The coaches have made some real strides, on both sides of the ball. We have a QB with the talent to burn it up in this offence. We have a veteran line. We have a short yardage back. We have quality WR's.  Where we were thin on D last year, we now have depth. Our DB's if healthy can play with any team in the nation. Our one question on D, is our line play, and our ability to manage the rush, and blitz packages depth kept us from last year

Like I said, we survived last year on family, and guts. That's why I'm so tightly strung about this year. You add talent to family, and guts, and you come up with what we had in 2004. One team. It doesnt matter who get's the TD, or who makes the big tackle. It's one team pulling in one direction with one goal in mind. That's how you win championships.

I'm sure I'm as excited as any other Auburn fan. We're under the radar, we're not ranked high, and we're talented. It usually works out for us in the end. C'mon September 4th!

Very, very good points.  Last year on offense, it seemed to be an all or nothing.  Very little consistency with the much needed ball control which would give our defense the much needed rest.  And at my own oversight, I didn't realize we were as thin on defense as we were.  Ideally, we could run ball control when needed, and big play offense as needed.  But every team in the nation would love to have these capabilities!

I would like to see more ball control from our offense this year with the old addage of "4 yds and a cloud of dust" when we need to.  However, our defense is going to be a very sound part of our team this year because of the younger players taking such an active role.  We WILL win some games this year on defense alone.  The defensive players might be very young, but they're talented and hungry.  This year's team is my kind of team.  And we will get better as the season progresses.  JMO :wareagle:

I do believe this team has that spark that can be ignited into something special. There will be a defining moment, like the 4th and 12 gut check against LSU in 2004.

It will be exciting to see it unfold. WDE!
