Legacy Tiger1345162832 0
.... last year before you spend your time and hard earned money traveling to a far away games.... um.... like Arkansas. After one of our games last year.... I promised myself I would never go out of my way to go to another "away" game.... I left the University of Arkansas more pissed off than I had ever been after a football game. Something like 11 penaltys in the first half... and something like 22 for the game... (if I remember correctly). It was comical. Almost on every other play. If Mallet had a 3rd and long... pass interference. If we picked up a first down.... holding. They would've beaten us anyway. But the Refs basically took care of the out-come by early in the second quarter. Game. Set. Match. We didn't have a chance. Seriously. The very next week was the UF vs. Arkansas farse.... and..... (drum roll)...... closely followed the LSU vs. UGA fiasco. It got so bad that many SEC Head Coaches were speaking out.... Listen, I bleed Orange and Blue. Die hard Auburn Fan. But I WILL NOT attend an away game untill it's beyound obvious that the SEC Refs have been repremanded, fined, fired, and ultimately fixed. Trust me when I say it isn't worth it... (maybe somebody here has the actual stats on the amount of penaltys we got that morning. It's mind blowing) LT
Plainstalk 32
It's a shame but I am inclined to agree. Also remember the AU - Kentucky game in Jordan Hare last year. AU got penalized 10 times and Kentucky 0. The same referees will say that they could call holding every play. The turds played 28 quarters last year without a single holding call (gimme a break), and Mark Ingram wins the heisman running through gaping holes created by the OL, makes you wonder. Two calls were blown from the replay boothe last year and the Turds and Florida were the beneficiaries (both were ranked in the top 5). Could it be that the SEC wanted a SEC championship game with No #1 vs #2, impossible.... There were more complaints from head coaches in the league last year than ever. I feel your concern.... Thanks Plains. I truely believe that if more Auburn people had made that trip... more would be extremely concerened about ever going to another far away game again. I just can't tell you how bad it was... words just can't come close.

aucpe 0
When I think of last year's officiating, the first thing that comes to mind is when LSU intercepted McElroy near the end of their game. Hello? Everyone in the entire country is looking at the replay and somehow the officials are denying it happened?

auhays 0
I remember the replay of the UK receiver's "catch" on the long pass down the sideline vs. Demond Washington. It was ruled out of bounds by the field ref, and was an obvious shove-off of Washington. Well, the booth replays it, with a slo-mo shot of the UK receiver shoving DW 2 yards off of him, and kept 2 feet in bounds. Ruled a catch b/c you can't overturn a "judgment call". If memory serves me correctly, this was the turning point of the game. That is when I made up my mind the Instant Replay does little to nothing to better the game in its current state. And let's not even get into the Patrick Peterson INT against McElroy...
bootskii 268
Oh yah I remember the UK game. That game was bs. They called everything under the sun against us. I remember the refs getting out of JH very fast after that game. It is sad that our coaches can't say anything about the poor officiating anymore. I sort of praised Myer last year for having the guts by telling the media that Slive should have the SEC refs fired after the UGA-UF game. I know it hurt his wallet a bit but I liked how he stuck up for his players after the refs missed that late hit call on Tebow.
auburn4ever 1,266
I really don't see the calls getting any better as long as M S stays the talking head of the SEC.

Guest WarTiger
What about all the bad calls in the LSU game. They called us offsides when it was LSU. The fake personal foul on Zac Ethridge. That was one of the worst called games of the year last season.
gAUlf 1
Alot of the problem with our offensive penaltys is that our style is designed to confuse and wear down our opponent. Well, the downside to that is that sometimes the refs get a little confuse and worn down as well. I remember seeing alot of phantom holds last year and wondered out loud if they were just to give the refs a break. Plus, it's been discussed on this board about the times we were called for an illegal shift or set when we clearly were not.
AUfanLCDR 0
Horrible ref calls on away games, bad calls on home games, blind calls on other teams - Sounds like a human problem except that last year it became a real SEC problem. I agree and am livid with bad replay calls but then again, I don't want replays thrown out. We have few options here except to follow all before and with us - We have to live with it. Am I quitting on wanting this solved - NO WAY! I'm just hoping that this thread somehow (even a miracle would do) gets to someone who has an answer. My last away game was the 3-2 Offensive showdown with Miss State - I hated the cowbells as much as stupid calls.

AU1941 6
Too many uat fans as SEC refs. When Slive is gone, this will change. You maybe right in this - but I personally know a ref that called the FLA-ARK game (a former neighbor and dear friend) and he was an Auburn offensive lineman.... So, there are ref's in the SEC that actually played football at SEC schools. Of course he isn't allowed to call Auburn games, for obvious reasons.
