Too good to be true news?

I hate to jinx this by mentioning it, but I have noticed that Paul Finebaum has not had a column on al.com since July 27.  Anyone have any detail on this?

From his lack of any fresh material, it's obvious that he was phoning it in.  Is it still being printed in the Press-Register?  Maybe they just got tired of it.

No, but something more unbelievable has happened.  That a$$hole now has a radio show on XM/Sirius radio on the Rivals channel!!  We can't stand him in his own home state, what made Satellite radio think that the whole nation, (and Canada) give a S*&t in a bucket about what that Saban-sucker has to say?!  What a crime!

Maybe he's getting hair transplants for that shiny head of his from Saban's.....

oh... well nevermind.

If he is gettting a transplant, he is transplanting his head further up Sabans arse.

I gotta be honest, I like his show.. I get a good laugh out of all the characters/ callers on his show... It's good entertainment, when your job keeps you on the road stuck in the car... I can only take so much political talk radio, and can't stand music played on the radio...

I agree.  I look at it as entertainment.  It is really funny to hear the northern callers call in and proclaim the big10 the best conference in america.  It doesn't really bother me what he says about auburn, because WHEN auburn beats alabama this year, he will have to eat some crow.

I'll give him a listen occasionally but usually have to change it so I don't get mad.  I was hoping he would limit the cast of characters when he went national.  He must really hate the state of Alabama because his cast makes the state look very bad.

Make no mistake, the finebaum show is not a sports show, it is a Jerry Springer clone. Most of the callers, Tammy, Shane, Charles, Jim, and others are all playing roles of instigators. Try to listen when his producer and the other guys are hosting when Paul is gone, they usually will let the intelligent callers on the air. Then it becomes a legitimate sports show. There is a reason he came to this state to have a radio show. Bammer fans are very easy to incite.

If you mean sports show in the traditional sense of some ex jock or other dull personality quoting stats, discussing the back up right tackle at length, and giving callers about 5 seconds to make a point before they hang up, so they can continue to hear themselves talk, then you are right it's not a sports show. It's more of a locker or message/ fan board type show. I personally hate hearing coach speak, or some ex jock give a politically correct answer because he doesn't wanna offend a particular fan base. You can't drag an honest opinion out of most of them...

I can only hope that holier than thou Jay "the forehead" Barker goes back to toting Sara's bags full time, Del Greco goes back to coaching high school golf and eating at Caraba's, and Tone the bone goes back to spinning Van Halen and Journey hits.

Btw I think Mike Keith, voice of the Titans sucks too... He sounds like a bad ripped off version of Jim Fyfe. FIRRRRRRRRRRST DOWWWWWWWWWWWWWN TITANS!!!! ughhh

talk about embarrasing, his going national is exposing the county to inbred bammers and the rest of the country just stereotypes us all in the same category. but it makes no sense to me that every caller or bama fan in general has to degrade every fball team in the country, every sports journalist that does not take a position under saban's desk, and every fan that think his team might be worthy of a top 25 ranking. they talk about ohio st. like they are not worthy of keeping a fb program. same with tex. and oklahoma. the rest of the country should just stop trying to compete in fb and let all the networks show bama intersquad games every saturday. the pf show is giving this to the whole country.

He was pretty hard to listen to when he was just within the state since his main demographic was Bama fans and like any good marketer he catered to that market.  Since he's gone national he has become much more objective in the talking points he brings up.  Now he will still agree with a homer Bama fan when they call in and ask if he agrees with something about Auburn but at the same time when one of the more annoying Auburn fans call in (I-man for one) and do the same against Bama he'll also agree with them for the most part.

When it comes down to it the guy is "an entertainer" more than a journalist now and you have to accept that when you listen to the show he's providing "entertainment" first and news second.  If you can get past that (and wanting to kill a few of the more obnoxious callers) then you can actually get some decent info from the show.  Especially with a lot of the interviews he does.

just my 2 cents....

Yes, I know very well that they are Auburn fans, but they are still instigators.

I didn't listen but yesterday my dad told me that he was telling bama fans to chill out that we were about to be toe to toe with them again and they we had a really good chance at beating them this year. If that's true, I think I'll have a stroke.

Better start heading to the hospital now then since the stroke is coming.

Fartbaum is an absolute joke.  He pretends to be an objective football analyst while he is nothing but a Bama/Saban homer.  The whole country can see through him and he continues to say he "tells it like it is".  The Turd nation is setting themselves up for a fall.  When it happens I will definately tune in to Fartbaum to hear the excuses they come up with.

I think all of the regular callers on his show are "shills" or "plants" that he has cultivated over the years so that he can make fun of Auburn and at times Bama.  Fortunately, in Auburn, we have two great alternatives to his show that talk about Auburn football in a positive light, so I don't have to listen to his garbage any more.  As for him sticking his shiny head up anyone's A, that couldn't happen because his head has gotten way too big.

Getting back to my original question for this post: No phone-it-in column this week, either.

In that sense, we might be free of this guy!

Unfortunately he was on vacation. He had a column that ran on Tuesday, if I remember correct. Something about how bammers aren't crazy for building a statue to their demigod already.

It just makes them look dumber. Why do it so quickly? Why the rush to cement his legacy as bahr's son who was sent down from heaven to forgive bammer all its football sins? It's crazy.

Not trying to make this political, but as the first black president, we all know Obama will probably get some type of memorial some day. Would it not look crazy to begin clamoring for this memorial now? Further, would it not look crazy to have Obama accepting/rejecting all the details of his own memorial?
