Auburn preview in Montgomery Advertiser

Yes, but if you click on Josh Moon's article, he's got us 5th in the West.  I first time I heard of him was just before the IB last year, when he came on Nashville sportstalk and predicted that there was zero chance for us and that it would be a rout!!  It's not so much what he says, it's how he says it.  I'd like to ..... oh well, gotta go to church!!

I think that was a fair article.  I don't think Fannin's early touches at RB were disasterous, and I expect a pretty substantial improvement on defense.  I don't see us losing to Ole Miss at all.  An lastly, I think we will play Arkansas with such a chip on our shoulder this year, we won't lose.  I do wear a big ole pair of O&B glasses though.

The negativity is what kills me.  They only mention the record points given up, but none of the offensive records set.  And I wouldn't say Dyer was our best high school recruit, maybe offensively.  Even then, Reed is more versatile.

Just let em talk and let the players prove em wrong. Auburn has always been better when people thought they weren't really good. I know whenever people used to pick people before me in elementary and middle school I would make it a point to show them who they shoulda picked...kinda the same case here just on a bigger field with bigger people lol

No, not much to argue with.  Leads with record v. bama and bama's gonna beat us again.  Riiiiiiiiiiiight?  Can we all say bammer-homer-waste-of-time read.

Some of his points made were fair but imo the article was a negative towards AU.  He made it seem like we have no hope at all this year.  I guess he is entitled to an opinion though.  Let em talk while we do the walking!!

Moon is a big Bama homer.  I don't think many people would put Ole Miss ahead of us, LSU or Arkansas.  We lost almost half our two deep defensive roster last year to injury, but everyone is healthy now.  Bama lost 13 from their two deep from last year.  I don't know that Arkansas beats them, since Petrino struggles with defense, but I don't think 11-1 is a foregone conclusion.  Don't be surprised if Florida beats them at home.

^^^This^^^.  You don't lose that many on defense and not lose some games.  9-3 at best losing to Arky, UF and AU.  Book it...

LSU is interchangeable with UF or Arky, but I agree otherwise.  LSU's D will give Bama's O some trouble, but will LSU's O click?  Arky will have a much better shot at Bama this year, with the game at home, and Arky's odds are better in a shootout this go round.  UF's D will test Bama's for sure, but UF's O won't have as much trouble on the other side.  And of course I think we'll give Bama hell!  But 9-3 sounds about right for Bama to me.

what I hate out of that article is there is a slant to it, the article isnt written from a pro auburn stand point and football writing should be, who reads about a team but its fans and rivals why does it seem that every auburn article is written from a perspective to appeal to alabama fans. its like every positive they offer is tainted. I really dont feel like he allowed for a great coverage of the team or what it will be about. This team is offensive fire power to the max and all that is mentioned is that we lost a running back. Seriously? I will say this Ben did great for us but i never felt he played to his potential, Mario has been hendered by our constant changes at OC. I think he will show to be a wonderful back this year. I think dyer will do well on pure talent. I think if you are covering this team and dont mention the wide receive fire power then you havent even shown up to watch them. A preview of auburn should read something like wait and see at qb and rb is the possible talent translates and then it should talk about the receiving options and line play. On d its all a big question mark, young players and returning hurt players have to show up. moon is a db and im not calling him a defensive back

It isn't just Moon. It's pretty much the entire sports staff at the Advertiser.

I think it's funny that they make it seem optimistic to think Auburn could get to 9 wins. I see that as the minimum, but that's me.

Overall the article is about what I'd expect: not worth much discussion. :dunno:
