Not sure about any TT websites, but from what I've read then they should be expected to have a decent 8 win season this year.

They had a little trouble picking out a starting QB, but Tubs got that one figured out and had a starter named in week 1 or week 2 of fall practice.

We know how good Tubs is at getting the right QB on the field...

Don't knock me.  I love Tubs.  I just find it ironic the QB situation is similar at TTech as it was his final two seasons at AU.

TTech's offense shouldn't have a problem.  It's the defense they'll have to work with.  I expect a Minnesota-like Ted Roof defense that focuses on turnovers this year.

i googled and went to the university fb site. they have links for blog posts and those fans are not excited about tubs. they are down on adam-craig james and some  think tubs will be gone in 2 years. they say he wants back in sec. i got this by reading just a few posts, but i saw no positive posts. i didnt remember him hiring tavaris robinson as db coach.

I wouldn't say it's quite the same.  Potts and Sheffield are both very good QBs.  Tech needs help on defense, not offense.  Leach was spectacular at evaluating high school talent to fit the Airraid.  However, he merely thought of defense as something that was "required" rather than something that needed to proactively try and win the game.

One of my best friends, from an online game we both play for the last two years, is an alumni from tech and season ticket holder for 20 years.  He runs an auto/body shop in Lubbock, right off campus, and has MANY connections to administrators and coaches.  They love Tubs.  As they should.

Take that for what it's worth......that's from someone that bleeds tech, and hates Texas on the same scale that we hate Bama.  We argue all the time on who has more hatred for the "state" school.  Auburn and Tech are in almost identical situations, and have been for a long time.  I trust his opinion on the feel for tubs.

I will add, he pulls for auburn as well.......partly because we're such good friends, and partly because he understands that we are so much like his program.  If there truly is enough interest here in the state of texas tech football, then I will get him to join here, and he above all the talking heads and blogs you can find anywhere.........can and will give you all the insight you want.

interesting, as i said i drew that conclusion from a hand full of posts, but that is all i saw. i am pulling for tech as well. i will always pull for tubs he never said anything negative about auburn after the breakup(which he probably couldnt - contract -although it didnt stop bowden) he even said he thought chizik would be very successful. i do think it was time for tubs to go and it will serve him as well as it did auburn.

Not sure if this was meant as status quo for Tubbs, but IMO 8 wins in the Big 12 is not a decent year.

It wouldn't surprise me if Tubbs pulls the big upset against Texas in Lubbock.

I am looking forward to this ^^^^.

Agree with the feel for Tubs,  but just so you know Auburn's hate is astronomical compared to Texas school's hate for the state school.  Let me rephrase that Tech's hate may be close, but the feeling is not mutual as it is in Alabama.  Texas biggest rivalry is A & M, then zero U, then Tech.  Anyways, give your buddy a "guns up" from the family.

I believe Tech will make some noise in the Big 12 this season. That Texas game in Lubbock will be an instant classic I bet. I will always pull for Coach Tubbs, he is one of the most gracious individuals I have ever met. Go Red Raiders!

I look forward to the day Tommy Tuberville can come back to Auburn. Not as the coach but instead for being honored for what he accomplished while he was here.

I'm gonna disagree with you, in turn, on Texas' biggest rival.  Oklahoma is by far more hated than A&M.  The fact is, A&M fans (not all, but a good portion) root for Texas in the Red River Shootout.  If the rivalry were that big, that would never ever happen.

Well when you put it in red, it makes me look dumb!  Haha.  Sorry I missed that.  I just wanted to point out that their QB competition is closer to AU '10 than it is AU '07 or '08.  What's really impressive is Sticks (Sheffield) is a walk-on.  I didn't know that until this year, but watching them both play a little bit last year (saw maybe 2-3 Tech games) and Sticks definitely looked like the better QB.  It probably didn't help that one of the games Potts started was against OU with their sick D-line last year.  But even so, I was kind of surprised to see Potts take the reins back this year.

Man I hope CTT all the best and will always be a CTT fan no matter where he goes. The man has a lota class. I agree, I too hope someday Auburn will honor CTT but it was time for a change.

I hope CTT does great things with TT .... hmm, same initials..... anyway, I now think that the change was great for Auburn and probably was a wake-up call to CTT.  I believe he took advantage of his year off to visit other coaches and study various styles and it will be good for him and his career.  I also think the light may have gone on about the need to do some serious recruiting.

WDE!

Double T Nation is a Texas Tech website.

I used to read that site when tubbs first got the job at TT.  It was pretty informative.  I think that most people were nervous when he first got hired.  They were worried about their offense.  Once he hired his staff they calmed down.  Also, they brought in James Willis as DC, and he has been recruiting well.  I think Tubbs will do well at TT.  I will watch a couple games to see how his offense and defense is working in his first year.  I expect he wins a game that he shouldn't.  Hopefully Texas.
