getting in & out on gameday

Whats the best plan? I didnt get to attend any games last season so I am sure some things have changed that I am unaware of. I can usually find parking but its always on the wrong side of campus and a long walk and makes getting out a pain. I usually come 280 from Bham. This year will be the first year I take small children so I am a little uneasy. I want to get down early and get parked and try to utilize the shuttles to get around to all the cliche sites and not miss Tiger Walk or anything. You know how it is taking a first timer. Whats y'alls best advice/plan of action?

Park by the intramural fields... its a bout a half mile walk, but its worth it.

When the game is over, you are on the outside of the crowd and its easy to get back to the interstate.

Little or no traffic will bother you at all, and there are shuttles that you can ride to the stadium if you dont want to walk.

Or since you are coming from 280, park in Tiger Town and take the shuttles in and out.  Will take longer, but you won't be the one suffering in traffic, nor will you be adding to it.  This is my first year not living in town, and I'm NOT looking forward to it.

This is what I recommend as well.

Transits do not run until 2 hours before kickoff, so if you park and ride a transit you will miss tiger walk.  I would park by the intramural fields or by logan's square.  Both are about a half mile walk.

According to their website the transit buses will start 4 hours prior to kickoff and run through the game until 2 hours after.

If I park at the intramural fields what is the best post game route back to 280? This is the area I usually park in and its always a nightmare getting back on route. I definitely dont want to have to walk from there all the way to Anders and then walk around all day. I'm relying heavily on this transit system. These old repaired knees may not get me back to the car otherwise. Thanks for all the ideas guys, keep them coming.

I park over at the Facilities Complex grab a shuttle over to Beard Eaves and walk to the stadium from there. Once the game is over walk back to shuttle drop & they take you back to your car and it’s a breeze leaving from the Facilities.

We always take the shuttle from Beard Eaves to Lem Morrison.  Every week, the Facilities shuttles are the most crowded and the lines are super long.  The Lem Morrison shuttles are really easy to get right on.  There is now a parking area on the corner of Lem Morrison and Donahue by the "hay fields".  They've changed some of the RV parking to auto parking (I think about 100 spaces).  Just a suggestion.

If shuttles run 4 hours before kickoff then they have extended the time this year.  If that is true, I would park at Tiger Town and ride the transit.  That way you don't have to fight traffic.

Text I received from my dad who runs the transits:

Shuttles start running 4 hours before kickoff and stop exactly 2 hours after game ends.

TigerTown is your best bet. I remember back when I lived across from Walmart in Auburn, I would drive there even though it was farther away because it meant I didn't have to find parking or walk five miles to get to the stadium. There will likely be a large amount of people riding, so you might have to wait through a couple of buses, but it just makes things easier. War Eagle bud!

If anybody that comes in on 280 uses 188 in Waverly and then turns on Farmville Rd to meet N Donahue there is a bridge out that won't allow you to go that way. You either have to go through Loachapoka to meet 188 or you have to come in the regular way using 147.

You know the shuttles are convenient in a way but I think I'd rather just park in the hay fields and walk the half mile. I know after the Alabama game last year I left the stadium pretty quickly but still had to wait in line to get on the bus for the Mall for and hour and a half, then for some reason I always end up getting on when the bus is nearly full and have to stand up. Which after standing up the whole morning before the game, then the whole game, then after in line, isn't very fun.

I guess your mileage may vary depending on what shuttle you decide to use. Oh and as far as I can remember the buses have run four hours prior to the game for a couple years now because I know they did for sure in 08 and 09.
