I read on another site where some guys were talking about being able to buy/rent radios that picked up the AU radio broadcast without the delay. I had no idea this was even available...anyone know how or where to get hooked up with one?

I saw them on the Auburn website.  There was a little banner at the bottom of the Football site that you click on.  I ordered one.  Im only worried that it wont be loud enough to hear over the crowd.  Gonna try it anyway.

Scroll to the bottom of the page.  Theres a little green Icon thingie...click on it.

I was reading about the radio on their site, and it seems to me that if you know what frequency the broadcast will be on you could use any radio.  They just preset the frequencies in their device so that it's already set when you get it.

Thanks for the link Simonsez!

Thats interesting about the frequency deal. I guess they change it every season and thats how they keep these radios seasonal? I assume this broadcast would only be able to be picked up within close proximity to the stadium then? Will do some testing this weekend and see if I can get my radio to find it. Thanks for the info.

Exactly.  From the FAQ on their website:

Where will the radio work?

    * By law, the Event Channels (E1 to E5 on which you will listen to your Home Announcers with no delay) are broadcast on low power.

Does the radio need to be re-programmed after each season?

    * Yes. We have the ability to reprogram your radio, with the new frequencies, at the beginning of each football season.

They will be available at the stadium on gamedays.  If you cannot find them, ask someone that is selling programs as they are the ones who are also responsible for selling the radios.  They will be able to point you in the right direction.

102.9 has all the AU games! have been listening to it since i was a kid!

The difference is you get no delay on these if you like to listen to the radio broadcast while at the game.  My in-laws have used these radios at bammer games the past couple of years.

As I've looked into this more, I think they are the same thing as using an FM scanner at a NASCAR race to listen to drivers.  The frequencies are in the format of 456.4125 for example.

I'm not sure if you already have one of these scanners if you couldn't either scan for the correct frequency or request it straight from Auburn ISP.

You purchase them for a particular broadcaster/team and you can listen to the broadcast live (with no delay) on a frequency that team broadcasts at the live event.  Thus, if you purchase an Auburn one, you can listen live if you are in or near the football stadium (works for other sports that are broadcast as well).

Well, I emailed Rod Bramblett to see if he could give me the frequency, and within 4 minutes he responded with this:

You have a couple of options…one being our local affiliate which is 97.7 FM.  There is a slight delay (2-3 seconds).  The other option is something new the stadium is offering and that’s Live Sports Radio.  It’s a unit you can purchase for the season that picks up our in-stadium feed with no delay.  I’m not sure of the cost, but you can go online to www.livesportsradio.com to find out more details.  The cool thing about Live Sports is you can also use the units on the road to hear our broadcasts without delay.

Hope this helps.  Thanks for the email and War Eagle!

EDIT:  I had searched for this in Google as well, and saw some forum posts from Michigan State fans where they were offering a "buy 2 get 1 free" deal if you ordered online.  Anyone looking to do so might want to look into it if they plan on getting more than one.

OK, now I'm just ticked off. bammer, Florida & LSU all have triple tune models with adjustable volume and a built in am/fm radio for the same price as our best lower model.  :dunno:

The only difference in the dual tune and triple tune is that the triple gets am stations. They all have adjustable volume.

Can I listen to AM radio stations from the radio?

    * Our new TripleTune radio allows you to listen to the Event Channels as well as FM and AM stations.

    * If you have a DualTune radio, you will be able to listen to the Event Channels (E1-E5) and local FM channels on your radio.

So I like my AM radio   Too late for reason, I now feel slighted. Just enough to carry a chip on my shoulder all season. Give em hell, Give em hell... stand up and yell.  :wedance:

Rather than fork out $20 smackers for this device, I will just take my reliable 10 year old fm receiver into JHS and live with the small delay. It really isn't noticeable at all.

I agree.  I've only noticed a delay 1 time, but it was terrible.  Something like 7-10 seconds, but I think it may have been due to atmospheric conditions.
