Meeting with Rah Rah's dad

The most unbelievable coincidence. Rah Rah's dad just sat in my office for about an hour talking Auburn football with me. What a cool thing to happen just three days before the season starts. And yes, I found out everything I could from him about Jawara and the rest of the team. A brief recap follows:

First: Spring practice at Auburn is unbelievably intense and according to Mr. White, "You gotta want it" in order to make it. He also mentioned War Eagle Hill, has anyone else ever heard of this physically brutal training? I think it involves a weighted vest.

Second: Zac Etheridge is definitely not gonna be hesitant to hit this year. Rah Rah said he was making a tackle during practice and the runner was almost down when Zac came in and "cleaned his clock" with a vicious hit that drove the runner into the ground. Zac got up and told Rah Rah that "in the SEC, they're not down til they on their back." That totally fired me up!

Third: Cam Newton can definitely take a hit. Zac came off the corner and leveled Cam during practice one day. It was such a hard lick that the coaches covered their eyes when Zac was about to hit him, I guess the coaches were in fear for Cam's safety. However, Cam got up from the hit and told Zac he would have to bring it harder next time because he was off balance when Zac hit him.

Fourth, and this one I really like, he gets a report from the coaches every 3 weeks or so on his son's class attendance and grades. Rah Rah said you will not play at Auburn unless you are a very good student. This to me is more evidence that things are going the right way at Auburn and that we are building men, not just players.

There was much more that we discussed, but I want bore you with the details. Overall, I know that AU is headed in the right direction and that the fans, AND THE PLAYERS,  feel like there is something special brewing on The Plains.

War Eagle Auburn Family!

(Jawara will wear #38 I believe, but he MAY not see alot of action this week, according to a reliable source)

I appreciate the info. Thanks a lot. I'm interested in knowing what War Eagle Hill is all about myself.

it is a lot like this movie....  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059274/

Which I recomend if you are into military prison movies.  or want to see what our players have to do. :)

If you walk by the back of the athletic complex where the practice fields are you can see a green hill that pretty much goes into the building.  That is the hill they run and it looks brutal.

Oh! I know exactly where you are talking about now!!! My gosh that must be horrible. I almost died walking up that thing, but to know that these kids can sprint up it with a weighted vest on is just amazing.

I'd be suprised if Rah-Rah doesn't get some good time Saturday. Out of all the LBs, I thought him and Jake were the 2 most ready to come in and contribute (Curry has really suprised me though).

Not saying I don't believe you, but the part about Etheridge hitting Cam brings up a red flag because Cam has not gone live (the defense being allowed to hit him) in all of fall practice, or the spring for that matter.

I bet Cam has had a little contact here and there. Don't believe everything the coaches say. If they say the QB is going live and he gets hurt people will be on them pretty hard. Don't think for a minute though they are going to let Cam get his first taste of live action in a game situation.

I was about to post the exact same thing...

tis a nice story...and would be fab-oo-lus if true...

But I dunno if they'd let our "Hoss's" plow into our starting QB and 'hyped prize' haha

then again, I'm not there so I don't know anything...

Probably true as a general rule, but sometimes there is some contact...

My son played DE on his HS team last year and the team was going through some 1st team O against 1st team D full contact work...QB was off limits/no contact...every thing else was full speed...

They ran a pass play and he broke thru the tackle's block on a speed rush and his natural "defensive player mindset" was in full gear as he blind sided the QB with a picture perfect tackle....one of those hits where you hear everyone say ohhhhhh!

He didn't even realize what he'd done until after the play was called and the coaches got on him..."instinctive reaction"...or at least that was his alibi... :)

My point = contact on QB does happen at times, but certainly is not the norm...
