So Dr. McElroy a turfgrass teacher of mine at Auburn posted this on facebook.

As a turfgrass student at auburn and I've worked on several courses in Alabama with BENTGRASS greens (a cool season grass that will almost die out about 85 degrees)  and we manage on keeping it alive. Bermudagrass is a breeze right now.  It thrives in hot and muggy conditions.  Their excuses are miserable.  Their biggest problem is that an Auburn grad would rather set fire to their field than be the turf manager of Bryant Denny.  :we:

He he . . .  had some fun and posted this:

"Simple resolution:

Stop growing turf (by the way, turf is grass dingo), add water and you have the perfect pachyderm mud bath!

Lack of air has never negatively affected a Bama fan. Still talking about 13 when everyone with the facts know the truth.

Have fun in Bad Dimension stadium! "

For any turfgrass experts/enthusiasts:

Does anybody have cool season grasses at home?  I've kept a bluegrass/fescue mix in my yard for the past several years and it looks excellent in the spring and fall, but awful in the summer.  I'm considering switching to Bermuda, possibly even a 419 type like at JH, but I wanted to know what all my pros and cons are before switching.  Anybody out there have any suggesions or tips?

I didn't want to start a new thread with this topic because there is a good chance this won't get any responses, so this topic page is where I ended up-

I use bluegrass....Kentucky bluegrass, featherbed bent, and uh...Northern California sensimilla. And the amazing stuff about this is, you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, then take it home and just get stoned to the bajeezus belt, that night on the stuff. I've got pounds of this.

For starters it depends on where you live and which zone you fall under....2nd do you have some sort of irrigation? 3rd is your yard full sun partial shade ect....all in all you can never really go wrong with Bermuda depending on the type u get it will cost anywhere from 80 -130 a pallet which covers about 500 sq ft....with Bermuda once fully established it is very drought tolorent

JMassie11- is there a particular Bermuda you would recommend?  I live in the very southeastern tip of Missouri, so not sure what zone that puts me in.  My zone tends to vary depending on what map I'm looking at.  Also, I do have full irrigation.  Looking for a Bermuda with a darker color.  Also, would I need to kill my current lawn before putting Bermuda in?  Not sure I want to sod the entire yard, maybe sprig and see what happens?

All your tift Bermudas are good quality....you can always just switch to full rescue by just killing any Bermuda and have your yard aerated and over seeded yearly....the key to fescue in the summer is to water A LOT and mow at a very tall height
