Mike Gottfried and Ron Franklin

Why was these two split up on ESPN. IMO, they were a great team on those sat. night games. Gottfried was always very complimentary of both teams who were playing. The guy that is paired with the former Penn State QB is pathetic. I will never forget his Brittany Spears question and Blackledge's reply.

They were the best duo ever! I loved listening to them do SEC games.

One thing I've always hated about announcers is the recent trend to stray away from the game action. Seems like announcers now spend all their time talking someone up and don't spend near enough time focusing on whats going on on the field. To me CBS made a horrible mistake in letting Blackledge go for Danielson. Vern and Todd really knew how to feed off each other, IMO. I also agree with Patrick being a bit of a clown. To me, Todd seems to be doing better with Brad Nessler. And though I do miss Mike and Ron, I must admit I really like Ron's new color analyist Ed Cunningham.

And just to go a little futher with all of this, the eye candy that ESPN puts on the sidelines now is certainly nice to look at. However, I sure do miss getting sideline reports from Adrian Karsten (RIP) and the good ol Dr. Jerry Punch.

I thought that Todd and Patrick were the best tandem for Saturday night football. Especially in 2007 when it seemed like they did every Auburn game that year.
