Question re the goal line and fielding a kick-off

In the game this past Saturday, after an AU score, AU kicked off and a Clemson player fielded the ball in the end zone, and started to run with the ball. He stopped, but one of his feet seemed to be on the goal line. He drew the foot back inside the goal line, and the official ruled that it was a touchback and Clemson got the ball on the 20. Shouldn't that have been a safety for AU? The very same thing happened last night on the Colts/Giants game, when a NY player fielded a Colt kick-off inside the goal line, stepped on the goal line, and realizing the official was NOT calling a touchback, had to run. The Colts nailed him at the 2. I know there are areas where the pro game rules are different from the college game, but I was wondering what the college ruling on this was.

Didn't want to start another thread, and this question comes from something that happened on a kick off. So, that being said:

Does anybody know why Sanders got the personal foul call? They never showed anything on TV except for the referee making the call and Sanders on the sideline.

Not trying to argue (and I have not seen it on replay), but I thought he was engaged in a blocking situation and just continued a little longer when the play had ended......IMO

I love the effort regardless!

If you watch the replay, that was actually the third guy "blocked" on the return. It may have been close but the Clemson gut was still moving toward the runner... he just got knocked off his feet prior to arrival. I for one wish  that this kind of effort will catch on. You want swagger.....I think 13 is taking every opportunity he gets to bring it.

In all honesty if we can't 2 yards for the first from 3rd and 2, I.E. when Newton was stopped on the QB draw that everyone in America knew was coming (4th qtr), I'll just be damned if I wouldn't line up Dyer behind Sanders the I and pound away.

Sorry for the rant, I just believe we can do a little better with the talent we've got, and if 13 is gonna play like his butt's on fire then let him play somewhere!!!!!!

I was hoping for the huddle, quick set up, broken I formation. A simple lead play to Dyer with Smith leading the way.

I didn't guess the speed option on 3rd and 2, but I had the wrap around draw on 3 and infinity called.
