Travore was rated as a 5 star recruit. CBP believed he was going to be a great addition to the team. He turned out to be a dud.

I do not doubt CBP's abilities as a motivational coach. He can get buy-in and effort from everyone on the team. I do question his dedication to recruiting tiny guards and unproven lower tier players. But then, I'm not a professional evaluator of talent and I'm inclined to go along with CBP - at least in the beginning. But he's definitely made some questionable recruiting decisions.

I'm not questioning Anchor's cred. I'm just saying that, if he can't make the grade for Auburn -- for ANY reason -- I'm not going to be slashing my wrists.

Traore looked like he never played bball before when he was at AU.  What a strange pickup he was.

  2. It's becoming concerning to me that it seems like Auburn just really isn't going to put for the effort to get the best players here (NIL) while the team across the state will do whatever it takes.  Oh well I guess...

Hopefully, he's sold on playing in the SEC and not the BIG 12 or ACC. If it comes down to NIL, I worry. Then I am so tired of the Alabama fans bragging about their commitments and how they are winning it all next season.

Well, they're paying for the best players. That's what you have to do now.

I had stated this as well in another post, and I agree with you. I think Pearl needs to reeavluate how he utilizes his players when it comes to their minutes. The starters should by mid January be averaging around 30 minutes a game and then your top 3-4 backups need to have the rest of the minutes.

I also believe the hockey lineup, as another poster coined it, is a major contributing factor for Auburn’s struggles in the postseason. The starters do not get to play with each other and can’t really gel because of all of the substitutions, unlike other teams who towards the end of the year have around 7 guys they play and starters have most of the minutes, causing more continuity with their team.

I agree and I've said before I don't like how BP creates such a "deep" bench.  Players really don't get 'tired'  and it never really creates any advantage.  Instead you just have a bunch of mediocre players.

  5. Thorne isn't going to be any better than last year IMO.  It will be up to our WR's to make plays putting us in a position to hopefully win more games.  I think we could peak at 8 wins, but likely 6 or 7.  Then I hope we can hang onto the WR's before they transfer out.

But his answer was that his recruitment is still 100% open. I think he ends up in Auburn and that's exactly what I'd say if I were him and wanted to maximize my NIL options.

But 100% open? It's a different era these days.

That's why I don't care anymore.  He's essentially saying he likes Auburn's NIL offer for now but if someone else wants to come along and pay him more then he'll listen.  Whatever.

    Spot on.

I’m in the “prove it” era with PT.  I’m not going to be gaslit to think that spring performance was any good. We should not be struggling to move the ball in a freakin spring game.

If our offensive woes continue this year you can say goodbye to Cam Coleman.  Why would he stick around?

YIKES! In case anyone missed several of my previous posts, I do not like this current NIL/transfer setup. That goes for any college sport. NO, I don't know a solution but the current situation is not sustainable.

    Agree, this is absolutely absurd.

I agree with you man. I’m having a really hard time staying interested in college athletics, because Auburn has made a habit of shi**ing the bed in everything. Pair that with Bama athletics being great and it’s very disheartening.

Football wise, I was very excited about the recruiting class, but the lack of activity in the portal basically made me feel like Hugh isn’t worried about serious winning this year. I do think we win 7-8. But a few key pieces in the portal would have made us a serious competitor.

I believe that the people on these boards are the 1%ers, who actively want AU to excel in sports above and beyond mediocrity.  However the vast majority of AU alumni and fans don't really care at all and are perfectly happy where we are and probably still want Gus Malzahn back as head coach.  Just my opinion

  10. I think the whole problem with the NIL thing is the transfer portal being open all the time as well.  They have their cake and they can eat it too.  Even the professional leagues aren't like this.  It will take time to figure it out.  As always decisions are made irrationally and without foresight based on emotion.  And this is what we end up with.

Does CBP maybe have a development and schematic issue relative to the PG position?  IDK, I may be reading into it too much.

Can we all agree Oats is doing something right?  The guy replaced his entire staff who all left for HC spots in the offseason.  He only returned 27% of their minutes played (2 PLAYERS returned), he's working with basically a new roster.  There were a lot of rival fans smirking and poking fun of Oats offensive philosophy and him totally ignoring defense.  Looks like that team found a defense once they hit the tourney.

There were a lot of rival fans laughing & poking fun at bama's early season losses, now it seems to have made them battle-tested and getting exposure & experience in live game action against the likes Purdue, Clemson, Arizona, Creighton even though they were close losses may have helped them find their way to their 1st ever F4.

I mean yeah, I guess it works when you're hitting your 3's.
