99% of our problems the last several years have been poor offensive line talent and play. It is why our red zone performance has been so poor the last several years. In the red zone, a defense can rush more against the pass because the field is not as deep, and it is easier to run man for man pass defenses in the red zone. I am hoping the OL will be better, giving QBs more time to make throws, less intentional throw-aways to avoid sacks, etc. Also, the WR room is much improved, so we should have a capable passing game. If that happens, we will not face a loaded box as much as we have in the past, which should improve our red zone performance.

To put this into perspective, consider the Iron Bowl in 2021. Our pass rush with Derick Hall and Eku Leota almost won that game for us because for the first time in a decade Bama did not have a top offensive line. Same reason Michigan was able to blow up that last play in the CFP. I think the key to success on offense is to have a top offensive line. And on defense, you need two stand-outs on the defensive front four.

That said, we did not see this happen in the A-Day game, but A--Day is such a sterile scrimmage now I do not know how useful it is.

Wasn’t that extra bowl practice back in December supposed to be a great thing?

  2. The Sec just got better by a large margin with Texas and Oklahoma.

Auburn is in a difficult situation. We were way behind before and possibly even more now. Freeze is up against the wall to perform. Hope he can deliver a team that wins 7 which is not much of an improvement but holding steady. Beat Oklahoma and the season looks promising. If we see the same confusion and garbage as last year , AD Cohen needs to start compiling a list.

What do you think should be done?  Would you shoot on sight? I dislike the misguided acts of some of these people as much as anyone, but this isn't Russia.  People do have rights, even if you disagree with them.

Arrest and deport if possible. No one has the right to do what they are doing. These aren’t protests, they are acts of breaking the law. It’s not difficult to understand.
The anti American/ Israel terrorist are now irrelevant and committing crimes.

  4. United States statues, campuses and raise terrorists flags in US flagpoles ?

We have no leadership, but soon it’s going get real ugly. The ignorant children are going to be schooled .

Hope the civilized realize that terrorists are breeding in the cesspools on our own soil. Remember 911? These Palestinians animals cheered when that happened.

Anti-Israel protesters in New York City defaced statues honoring American World War I soldiers on Monday.

The outdoor bronze monument at the East 67th Street entrance of Central Park depicts members of the 107th United States Infantry in the throes of battle.

These ignorant asses would have supported the Nazis in ww2. What an insulting disgrace that they now want the the destruction of Israel and the United States.

Israel will eliminate Hamas in Gaza, but who will eliminate it in the USA?

the President of university of Florida knows the truth

    Better wake up

Of course they do, otherwise they will be killed by the terrorists.

The sooner the cancer hamas is rooted out of Gaza, the sooner the Palestinians can live live again. One benefit for the USA is the potential and imbedded terrorists on breeding ground colleges are now being identified during these “protests”.

In all honesty, just from doing my own research and how some teams are predicted to finish with the portal, I think when all is said and done, Auburn will more than likely be a top 15 team, could see us dropping to top 20. There are still a lot of big names in the portal and many programs ranked below Auburn are in the running for those players. I think college basketball next year in general will be more unpredictable than it was this year, since anyone that watched basketball knew UCONN was going to win it before February. There have been so many coaching changes and complete roster overhauls on top of the new conference alignments, that it will be very exciting to watch.

So AU is slipping into mediocrity. Of course it’s a role we relish and usually prove the experts wrong until we mess it up

You can protest all you want, but when your protesting turns violent and your group demands certain actions to be done before you stop, that is terrorism.  To demand divesting all association with Israel by an institution, whether it be a school or business, while occupying their property is terrorism.  You can’t see that?

    Exhibit A:

These are terrorists.  No taking of responsibility for their actions, but doubling down hoping the liberal college will cave to their demands.

Thought the terrorist were expelled or will be. So no worries about exams.
They are studying law? Lol losers, they have already failed.

  8. The ignorance of the terrorist is appalling. Hamas has infiltrated the weak links in society and actively recruiting members. Israel is a democratic ally of the US. Gaza is not.

meanwhile the US military is building a port to increase aid to the Palestinians. Hamas has been attacking aid workers that help Israel distribute food.

The demands of the homegrown terrorist should be ignored. They want to divest from Israel, that would mean the destruction  of Israel or in other words genocide.

Wake up America. We are under attack

Seriously guys, this is just nauseating.

Better get used to it , oh wait we already are.

this will be the new normal for the majority of teams except the top 15- maybe 20.

    1. The issue here is that peaceful protests are a Constitutional right of all Americans (yes right wing and left wing), but violent protests are not protected speech (including both right wing and left wing). Once protests (right wing or left wing) become violent (taking over buildings, destroying property, destroying property, killing people), it is justifiable to use force to curtail them. Whether neo-Nazis in Charlotte or protesters at Columbia, violent protest is not acceptable.

    2. You cannot deport U.S. citizens. Yes, I know, Trump says you can. He is wrong.

    3. A protester is NOT a terrorist. That is right wing extremist crazoid rhetoric. Look up the definition of "terrorist." That ain't protester, even if the protester has a sit in or breaks a window. And Bragg's office will prosecute those who broke the law as his office does for all other crimes in NYC.

Yes, I know you hate Bragg because he is prosecuting your orange god, but the fact is, all crime is down in NYC despite what is trumpeted and Bragg is doing his duty at all levels in this huge city.

Supporting Hamas and the destruction of Israel is a terrorist agenda. These “students “ are recruited and radicalized by the enemy of the United States. Wake up. Most of the children don’t even know what are why they are protesting. Interesting than Iran is offering full scholarships to those suspended. FYI Iran is an enemy to The USA and Israel.

Do we know they are US citizens?

when Us Flag is taken down and replaced with a terrorist symbol and Statues are draped in enemies of the US then expect consequences.

    Jerry,

I completely understand your position.  I might even agree with you, but here’s my reservation. If everyone had that same attitude, then how do we ever get better if the athletic department isn’t being supported? I agree that our leadership has made terrible decisions. But choosing not to support the athletic department isn’t holding the leadership accountable, it’s only putting AUBURN further and further behind. The question is how do we hold the leadership accountable and make sure our money is being used wisely?

With NIL - I believe Auburn fans have an opportunity - now more than ever before - to directly impact the product in the field. The more money we generate, then the better players we will have and the better chance to win a National Championship in something other than equestrian. I don’t believe it’s possible for them to use NIL money on coaches buyouts or other stupid decisions we’ve made in the past.

Lol, your unicorn view of nil is exactly the type the scammers are looking for.

pay more and more and we will win! How many ex Auburn players have already entered the portal this year?

Better head to the casinos, you will have a better return on the money thrown away. Oh Auburn Athletics is on the line , they need another 500 dollars, please.

  12. Great job NYPD. Why these campuses are harboring terrorist should be investigated and consequences delivered.

    deport and imprison domestic terrorist.

investigate their parents and friends also.

All the other students sue Columbia.

Meanwhile the clueless President is Mia. Letting terrorism and lawlessness grow.

Some of us aren’t in a position to donate anything “significant”. But I promise you that if I was… you better believe I would be pouring my money into OTV! And I would expect any hardcore Auburn fan to do the same.

And that’s what I don’t understand. Your money goes further now more than ever! We are supposedly funded by 4-5 different billionaires (according to WDE). It’s now LEGAL to pay for players. If we truly have the money, we should be competitive in EVERY sport.

There are sports that we’ve never been truly competitive in, but we should have an opportunity to change that now. I don’t expect the NIL “Wild West” to last forever…. But while it’s here, we should be getting the talent we need in EVERY sport.

What a sucker. You are the perfect type that they are looking for. Tie your Auburn “loyalty “ to how much money you can throw at it. Do you think any players have team loyalty or dedication? What about the purpose of the school..education? Freeze is right about one thing , the me first disease is rampant now in college sports.

oh by the way send in your monthly 500 dollar check otherwise you are not a real fan.

better go buy a lottery ticket, it’s a better investment.

  15. Cmon suckers, keep giving money to the nil. Got to do it constantly now otherwise some player you don’t know or may or may not pan out will go elsewhere.
Coaches and fans are seeing the stupidity of the whole thing and will just stop participating.

Whatever the numbers are, they aren't sustainable.  One thing puts order back into the system.  That one thing is an exemption from anti-trust laws.  Congress can pass that exemption and the threat of litigation has no teeth.

Imagine getting conned and shook down constantly for ransom money to help keep so and so from leaving. Preying on fans love and loyalty for Auburn. Something the players have none of.

the players are nothing more now than betting on horses at the track.

I see where Goodman mentions, "The day basketball coach Bruce Pearl and football coach Hugh Freeze lose their abilities to raise money for those collectives is the day they lose their jobs."  which made me recall Calipari celebrating in the last week his NOT having to raise NIL funds at Arkansas, so that he can now 100% focus on his HC responsibilities.

Calipari had to get on his soapbox, glad hand Kentucky boosters and pass the offering plate at UK alumni functions to raise NIL $$.  Apparently, the Arkansas Administration knew he despised do that and they assured him they already had $10million in NIL for Hog Basketball and he wouldn't have to raise a dime for their NIL.

I'm wondering how many head coaches actually like not only selling their program to prospective athletes, but also selling it to boosters, donors, and begging a fan base to pony up $$ to pay the players?

It’s a 24/7 job now for universities/coaches etc to shake down their supporters for ransom money

  18. This is good news but recruiting and keeping players is all about the cash.

“Money was assuredly a huge part of this decision. Despite his improvements away from the basket, Broome is not a lock to be selected in the NBA Draft, according to several notable NBA Draft writers.” Al.com

    https://www.al.com/auburnbasketball/2024/04/johni-broome-is-back-how-high-can-expectations-be-for-auburn.html

why not just set up go fund me accounts. And you thought it was hard to put a kid through college . Harder to pay athletes to stay. Who’s going to pay up? Is it tax deductible?

The best thing Alabama offers him to me (other than the obvious high level guard play they've had in general) is that they consistently yield multiple ball handlers. Think they just got a transfer guard that was a #1 option on South Florida. He'll be able to be more like how we should've used him (and did try towards the back half of the season); a scoring guard/off-ball guy.

By the way, while Bama would be a great spot for him, this is just a visit and one that's pretty close for him to make. It isn't necessarily a sign that he's going to auto-commit to them lol. I'll be interested to see if any of the high-level Carolina squads from last year give him a whisper

All depends on the money. Sure saban will also just happen to be in the neighborhood. The de facto head coach and AD.

Sometimes kids have to grow, mature and develop within a system.  I'm afraid this unrestricted transfer portal coupled with ungodly NIL money will make the notion of patience to stick with a team and soak up coaching & develop a thing of the past.

Ya think? Lol, team loyalty, education, all that stuff is gone.

college athletics for the rich programs is now semi pro with no salary caps or contracts. Coaches invest tremendous time and resources only to see their hard work go to rival programs.
pay up or I’m gone! Fans and donors held hostage.

  22. Funny people think Saban is retired.

He just doesn’t have to do the day to day bs.

Officially yes but he’s on call 24/7. Uat has two head coaches, one on the sidelines and one in the background doing recruiting and assistant /guidance coaching.

Meanwhile Freeze is still trying to figure out why the Georgia and bowl  games are so important.
