Some of us aren’t in a position to donate anything “significant”. But I promise you that if I was… you better believe I would be pouring my money into OTV! And I would expect any hardcore Auburn fan to do the same.

And that’s what I don’t understand. Your money goes further now more than ever! We are supposedly funded by 4-5 different billionaires (according to WDE). It’s now LEGAL to pay for players. If we truly have the money, we should be competitive in EVERY sport.

There are sports that we’ve never been truly competitive in, but we should have an opportunity to change that now. I don’t expect the NIL “Wild West” to last forever…. But while it’s here, we should be getting the talent we need in EVERY sport.

What a sucker. You are the perfect type that they are looking for. Tie your Auburn “loyalty “ to how much money you can throw at it. Do you think any players have team loyalty or dedication? What about the purpose of the school..education? Freeze is right about one thing , the me first disease is rampant now in college sports.

oh by the way send in your monthly 500 dollar check otherwise you are not a real fan.

better go buy a lottery ticket, it’s a better investment.

  2. Cmon suckers, keep giving money to the nil. Got to do it constantly now otherwise some player you don’t know or may or may not pan out will go elsewhere.
Coaches and fans are seeing the stupidity of the whole thing and will just stop participating.

Whatever the numbers are, they aren't sustainable.  One thing puts order back into the system.  That one thing is an exemption from anti-trust laws.  Congress can pass that exemption and the threat of litigation has no teeth.

Imagine getting conned and shook down constantly for ransom money to help keep so and so from leaving. Preying on fans love and loyalty for Auburn. Something the players have none of.

the players are nothing more now than betting on horses at the track.

I see where Goodman mentions, "The day basketball coach Bruce Pearl and football coach Hugh Freeze lose their abilities to raise money for those collectives is the day they lose their jobs."  which made me recall Calipari celebrating in the last week his NOT having to raise NIL funds at Arkansas, so that he can now 100% focus on his HC responsibilities.

Calipari had to get on his soapbox, glad hand Kentucky boosters and pass the offering plate at UK alumni functions to raise NIL $$.  Apparently, the Arkansas Administration knew he despised do that and they assured him they already had $10million in NIL for Hog Basketball and he wouldn't have to raise a dime for their NIL.

I'm wondering how many head coaches actually like not only selling their program to prospective athletes, but also selling it to boosters, donors, and begging a fan base to pony up $$ to pay the players?

It’s a 24/7 job now for universities/coaches etc to shake down their supporters for ransom money

  5. This is good news but recruiting and keeping players is all about the cash.

“Money was assuredly a huge part of this decision. Despite his improvements away from the basket, Broome is not a lock to be selected in the NBA Draft, according to several notable NBA Draft writers.” Al.com

why not just set up go fund me accounts. And you thought it was hard to put a kid through college . Harder to pay athletes to stay. Who’s going to pay up? Is it tax deductible?

The best thing Alabama offers him to me (other than the obvious high level guard play they've had in general) is that they consistently yield multiple ball handlers. Think they just got a transfer guard that was a #1 option on South Florida. He'll be able to be more like how we should've used him (and did try towards the back half of the season); a scoring guard/off-ball guy.

By the way, while Bama would be a great spot for him, this is just a visit and one that's pretty close for him to make. It isn't necessarily a sign that he's going to auto-commit to them lol. I'll be interested to see if any of the high-level Carolina squads from last year give him a whisper

All depends on the money. Sure saban will also just happen to be in the neighborhood. The de facto head coach and AD.

Sometimes kids have to grow, mature and develop within a system.  I'm afraid this unrestricted transfer portal coupled with ungodly NIL money will make the notion of patience to stick with a team and soak up coaching & develop a thing of the past.

Ya think? Lol, team loyalty, education, all that stuff is gone.

college athletics for the rich programs is now semi pro with no salary caps or contracts. Coaches invest tremendous time and resources only to see their hard work go to rival programs.
pay up or I’m gone! Fans and donors held hostage.

They haven’t been paid in the amounts that they are being paid today. There were players getting things and that includes cash, but this is a different animal today.

Which is one reason Auburn will be left  behind.

Fans and donors held hostage or else!

  9. Funny people think Saban is retired.

He just doesn’t have to do the day to day bs.

Officially yes but he’s on call 24/7. Uat has two head coaches, one on the sidelines and one in the background doing recruiting and assistant /guidance coaching.

Meanwhile Freeze is still trying to figure out why the Georgia and bowl  games are so important.

    Ridiculous, Bruce isn’t going anywhere.

Mark Pope (BYU) probably be the Kentucky coach

Should be more worried who will replace Freeze if he stinks it up this year.

I think NIL is a toxin for teams.  It's going to drive coaches insane before it's all over.  I'm sure it was hard for Tre to see Aden with a bigger payout, and that puts more pressure on Aden too. And I assume Tahaad will come in making more than Aden. I would have liked to see both Tre and Aden come back.  Absent NIL, they probably would have. They are way better than people give them credit for.  You don't win 25 games and the SEC title without good guards.  And they will be better next year.  I hope Bruce kills it in the portal like last year, but there's no guarantees.  And it sounds like a lot of tampering is going on with Broome.  This whole system really does suck. I'm glad to see the players making some money, but it would be better if they all got a nice wage that is the same.  As it is, this is going to escalate until only a handful of schools can afford the top talent.

But but, if the fans and donors just give more and more. Held hostage for ransom otherwise the player will go where the payment is higher.

Amazing that what was known when the nil started is a surprise now for so many. Only the rich schools will compete and Auburn won’t be one consistently.

Football will see the same maybe 15-20 teams every year. Smaller schools will really struggle.

I’m not a fan of collectives but if some company wants to use a player as advertisement for that company or product, have at it.    As far as Bo, I only heard of Milo’s .   I don’t have a problem with that.    Players leaving is a completely different circumstance and conversation.
You speak out of both sides of your mouth when it comes to coaches.   You knew nothing of Pat Dye until after he was already established at Auburn.   And he definitely wasn’t a sure fire hire.

As long as you aren’t writing the check,  and the endless solicitation of paying up or else.

Used to coaches developed players and built them up to win with loyalty, dedication, determination and commitment and accountability through coaching.

Now it’s whoever can buy the best players with the assistants doing the heavy lifting and the head coach selling the program.

This is why you can’t be taken seriously.   The guy has coached one season, one!   According to your standard, Pat Dye would have been on your get of rid list after one season.   One season!   Come on man, that’s not even realistic.   And it’s being a sunshine pumper mentality or a negative Nancy thing, it’s just dumb.  Give a guy a few years and if it isn’t working out, you go after another one.   I would be willing to bet that you haven’t given anything to NIL to so call “help with this problem “.

Nah Coach Dye flat out said what he was going to do and there was no doubt at all he would do it. People respected Dye and knew he was a coach to be feared. Totally different environment now of course. Reality usually sounds negative and no one is saying not to give Freeze a chance. He has 1-2 years to show he knows what he’s doing. That will be 3 under his belt. Personality wise Freeze ain’t no Dye, unfortunately.

nil? Seriously, fans held hostage for ransom. You would be better off playing the lottery, the roi from the nil is negative. The player can up and leave whenever. Remember Bo Nix nil? Wonder what happened to that cash?
