Also who in front of us got a monster score. Ranking is by cumulative average but we just scored or highest ever and dropped a spot.
RQS is a complicated formula. I believe the highest score is not everaged in (they take the next highest 5, with at least 3 that must be away from home).
All that to say, if we break 198 against Florida, then last week's score will count.

Slow start for the offense against Jacksonville State, but it was good to see the bats come alive in the 4th and the 6th.
We still have two “easier” weekends before SEC play begins. Hopefully we can see a fully healthy Dismukes and Yarbrough return to the circle to reduce the number of innings for Lowe and Penta before we face Texas A&M.
The hitters have shown drastic improvement compared to last year. We are still young, so I imagine there will be a few more bumps in the road, especially against pitchers with a great changeup like Azevedo from UCLA.
I might tinker with the lineup to try a few things out before SEC play begins. I’d love to see:
1. Peralta (SS)
2. Bryant (2B)
3. Packer (CF)
4. Ellis (1B)
5. Blaine (DP)
6. Cox (3B)
7. Garcia (RF)
8. Lisenby (C)
9. McCondichie (RF)
I still like Packer in leadoff simply because when she’s doing that well, don’t tamper with something unless you need to. No need to shake up leadoff in my opinion, and that means more at bats for Packer. I also like a lefty leading off instead of a righty.
Speaking of the 9 hole, I love McCondichie there turning the lineup over. She seems to be back to 2020 form.

Georgia's Coach Joni Taylor admitted in her post game conference that we were tougher than them. Fantastic win for the girls and this team. The girls have been fighting too hard. Honestly, more than 2 games should've fallen our way. They deserved this. Holding UGA scoreless for the final 7:16 is impressive.
We have two more regular season games left plust the conference tournament in Nashville.

Great weekend winning 4 of 5 games. USF only had 3 hits today. Maddie and Shelby both had 5 K's each. They are such a great 1-2 punch. Very different from each other so it is hard for batters to adjust when we swap mid game like that.
Edit: Final score was 5-1.

3-0 Auburn after 4 complete. Penta with 4 K's. Sydney Cox has made some stellar plays at 3rd.
Edit: Peralta leadoff bomb in the top of the 5th. 4-0 Tigers.

Final game against USF is underway. Penta for AU. USF is resting their All-American ace, Georgina Corrick. The key for AU will be to score early and not give USF a chance to bring their ace in with a tie or lead.

I saw that. Baseball would never allow a pitcher to have a white wrap on the pitching hand. It seemed odd to me that the wrap didn't at least have to be a different color from the ball.
The ball is fluorescent yellow…..

Did you notice Shelby had her left wrist taped during the game. I wondered how she was able to pitch as effectively as she did. I believe CMD mentioned in the post-game radio broadcast that she had a wrist injury. Pretty good pitching considering what she was dealing with. The starting pitcher for Texas Tech (Fritz) had pitched 12 innings in previous games this season and had 9 SO. I was pleased that we were able to hit her as well as we did. Of course, the big damage was done by the Ellis three run HR after Fritz was relieved.
Weather looks good rest of week. Wisconsin at 10:30 tomorrow. They defeated UCF (run rule) 9 -1 today and recorded their first HR of the season in that game. Including today their record is 4 - 3. Losses have been to 3 ranked teams: Kentucky, Virginia Tech and Missouri. Three batters hitting in low .300's. Prior to today's game the two primary pitchers have been Schwartz (ERA4.3) and Justman (ERA 5.0). Justman got the win today vs. UCF. They play Notre Dame at 5:30 this evening and then AU tomorrow morning.....3 games in 24 hours. We seem to have a number of dinged up pitchers. Do not know if Yarbrough is avaliable.
Coach did mention her wrist. It sounds like we will still see her in the rotation though.

I had to step away from the TV for a little bit and when I came back Penta was pitching.
Figured Lowe was just getting a rest, some tough games ahead this weekend.
At the end when the team came out I saw Lowe had ice bags on her left hand and elbow. Is this par for the course for her after pitching, or something to be worried about?
Normal post game recovery for pitchers.

Final: AU 7 - Texas Tech 1. Freshmen Jessie Blaine and Bri Ellis both homored for Auburn.
Lowe went 5.0 IP (3 K's) and Penta went 2.0 IP (3 K's).

7-1 AU bottom 5th after a 3-run Bri Ellis bomb. Jessie Blaine hit a solo shot earlier.

AU vs. Texas Tech on SEC Network now. Shelby Lowe in the circle for Auburn.

Fantastic effort and win! So happy for our girls and this coaching staff. They've been playing too hard to have so many tough luck losses. The effort paid off tonight! WAR EAGLE!

This team has improved so much. Lost in OT to Mizzou and lost last Sunday to Bama by 3.
LSU is a tough, ranked opponent, but our girls deserve a big crowd Sunday at 4:00.

Read an article today that their our third toughest opponent to date based on net but haven't seen them.
Unrelated question: how strict is the arena seating? A friend and I are bringing our kids up together and have Tix in opposite parts of the arena (mezzanine club versus row 2 behind the visitor bench). Will we be able to sit together if there are any open seats or do arena staff filter before you can get into those sections?
I would recommend starting in the assigned seats. With the game being a bit earlier at 5:00, you may think seats are open, but people will keep filing in.

The Tigers went to Nashville and won 71-62. For the record, Belmont came to Auburn last year and crushed us 78-57.

This team and program still have a long way to go, but the improvement already shown is amazing. Way to go ladies, Coach J, and staff!
-
It's still a rebuilding year, of course, but this team is showing definite signs of improvement. It's great to see the buy-in from players. Coach J was also at the men's game last night, socializing with the Jungle before the gates opened. Flo never did anything like that to promote the program.
