I live in Lauderdale.  Been through Bethel many a time heading up to the state line on a Sunday evening before you could buy beer down here on Sundays.  Eaten a few times at the Fish Creel in Anderson.  Biggest frog legs I’ve ever seen!

They had some of the best catfish and hushpuppies back in the day also. Haven't eaten there in several years though.

I couldn't imagine being scared to walk through Leighton.....well I'd be on my toes on Jarmon lane a bit....but I'm from the Westside of Florence so I'm probably numb to most areas in the quad cities....used to get in a bunch of scuffles in the projects of Sheffield when I'd see my grandmother on my dad's side every now and said.  It's so stupid how the quad cities would rival opposing areas. Having to fight just because you're from the neighboring town is so silly, but dangerous just the same.

Different era way back then Cole I reckon. I have 2 grandchildren that graduated from Colbert County and were in the band. Never messed around Sheffield much. Had more trouble in Tuscumbia than anywhere else because those goobers at Deshler thought they were so much better than us ole country boys at the Heights. Guess they couldn't stand the fact that we a Tuscumbia address too...LOL!

    God I hated Cherokee stadium

Russellville probably had the nicest Stadium and best field to play on back then. It was like a small collage stadium, and still is today. Several of us was there in 68 i believe that's the year that Russellville had that big game with Muscle Shoals and we had to park a 1/2 mile from the stadium. Seems like that most of the Tri-Cities was there that night...LOL!

Who did you play for? We also played Cherokee every year. God I hated Cherokee stadium

Colbert Heights. I went through spring training at Cherokee but the county installed zoning and had to attend The Heights. Always wanted to play ball for Coach Mills. And the stadium hasn't changed much since then Golf. They have new bleachers and scoreboard, thats about it. I have a granddaughter that's a cheerleader there now.

We never lost to Leighton but that was before Gargis time. They had some great teams in my day usually we were the only team to beat them. Actually Leon Douglas played against us his soph. year

They were rough back in the day. Gargis was a year behind me. Leighton and Cherokee were the 2 toughest teams that we played each year. We never beat Leighton or Cherokee. We never played Russellville.

Damn .50 cents that's crazy for hauling hay even back then. Dad also fed all the guys for lunch my Uncle owned the King Drive in Russellville and he would cook about 40 hamburgers/fries and all the coke/pepsi we could drink plus he had an soft ice machine and supplied us with ice all day. Me and Dwain Hatton, he played defensive end,  would work the trailer loading bails so we never had to walk that much but we did have to pick up every bail to stack it and put on a conveyor to go up into the barn loft. Stacking hay inside a barn loft is hot as hell.

And Littleville you say that's were I learn to play golf at Twin Pines CC. started playing when I was 12 years old. Lots of memories at Twin Pines CC

Well, to be fair Golf, Mr. Baily did feed us and supply cokes/Pepsi's. And dadgum, y'all had a conveyor!? You had it made! was all y'all in some kind of a hay hauling union we didn't know about back then....LOL! Played some basketball at Littleville back in the day. That was way before they shut down all the Jr. high schools in the county. And i've been to the Kings drive-in many, many times. And got a brother-in-law that still lives in Littleville. Is it still in the family?

Hmmmm. Never heard that bout Leighton

We scored 16 points on them at Leighton one Friday and still got beat, and had to fight our way out of the end of the stadium to the locker rooms. Things sure have changed a lot in the last 55-50 years.

This what you're talking about hell my dad would hire 20 guys off my football team and pay them $1 an hour to load the hay onto a trailer then have to unload from trailer into a hay barn loft. Alfalfa hay bales was the worst. You had to wear long sleeve shirts to cover your arms because were the hay is cut into a bale was sharp as a knife and would just eat your forearms up.

Now everyone has learned more then they wanted to about old time hay baling.

Buyer's Guide to Hay Equipment | Small Farm Sustainability

Golf, that was pretty good dough for hay hauling back then. We hauled for a Mr. Bailey and a few others back then and he only paid .50 cents an hour! Hauled a many a bale of hay for that old man up around Littleville, Spring Valley, and New Bethel over a 3 year period. I'd like to have got in on some of that dollar an hour hauling...LOL!

Your assuming “greed” based on what?

The 2.25% the attorney wants out of the deal(on previous page posted by JerryAU). Who pays it? Kid/Dad don't want to. So, NIL collective don't want to. UF shouldn't have too. If someone is paying me 13 mil and I've got an attorney to seal the deal, I'll gladly pay 2.25% to MY attorney and smile all the way to the bank with the rest. Greed on the Dad/kids part.

I didn't comment on Dykes one way or the other but I'm hoping them-there Baptists win it all. That UGA game was depressing last night.

Not Baptist Mikey. TCU is affiliated with the Christian Church(Disciples of Christ).
