I stand corrected.  Break out the 🍾  , we are competing with the likes of Houston, Iowa St. And Zona State.  One just fired their coach,  the others are conference bottom feeders. You can come at me on the P5. But don't act like we beating elite programs to land this cat. The 3 u mentioned are on par with alot of P5 programs.

Fella, it’s not that serious. E just pointed out your mistake. Never said they were powerhouses. Folk need to loosen up, jeesh

I get what you’re saying. But you’re over exaggerating. Gus’s recruiting was only bad in a few positions. He signed high rated QBs in 2018 and 2019. He pulled in great running backs and a good number of offensive weapons. His issues on offense in his last few years were a) poor OL recruiting, which really doesn’t work if you want to be a run-play action offense. b) Bad use of skill position players. He increasingly telegraphed a lot of plays by the players on the field and the formations we lined up in. For example, certain running backs would only come on the field in pass plays.

Compare that to the two years with Harsin… Gus’s last class did not address our OL problem. But it was still ranked pretty high (7th best in the country according to on3 and 247). Harsin’s classes were awful. If we’d had two more years of Gus, we would’ve probably won 2-3 more games this year, just because of skill position talent. And also, we almost certainly wouldn’t have lost Bo Nix to Oregon. Nix might not have developed as well as he has if he’d stayed on the Gus coaches team. But he would’ve been better than Thorne or Ashford.

Add in, we would not have lost as many players to the transfer portal either.

Come on man, get a grip. Had the team ready, played a great game. Yea, should have won, every call on every play isn't going to be perfect for any coach. Players also have to make a play. CHF didn't drop the punt, CHF didn't cover the receiver. Yea, can't throw the kids under the bus either, plays happen and they put their heart in it. We've been on the good side of these types of games before, we will be again.

CHF going all in on recruiting and giving bama all they want in year one. Things didn't bounce our way at the end, but I'm not firing a coach or stopping supporting him when he's doing all the things we need to improve.

Stop trying to bring common sense into thos forum, people don't want that!:drippingsarcasm7pa:

  4. All these negative Nancy's need to see it for what it is. Welcome to Year one of a complete rebuild. IDGAD about where this team is ranked talent wise we don't have talent in the main positions. OL, WR, DL or LB. Our QB is not the best either. We have no depth on the DL, LB. Why do you think we had to hit the transfer portal so hard on all of those positions? No muffed punt and we probably win this game. When we get the players we need we will get the results we desire. Some people are completely illiterate as to how bad this team is and how much they played above their talent. They deserve better fans....

  5. Be mad. Be upset but be rational. Our team played lights out sans two bad plays at the end. Very few of us gave our team a very little chance to even compete and yet we led this game before the muffed punt, then 4th down.... I don't know what to say about that but all eyes should have been towards the QB. Moral victories don't account for anything but if you think this program is projecting downward then you don't know football. I hate we lost a game like this but I love the way we competed

  6. Most of the time successful coaches inherit players that do not fit their system and really struggle their first 1-2 years. Most become successful when players they recruit get in their 2nd-3rd year and then more highly rated players want to come. It’s a process. I think comparing the struggles the CKS, CNS, etc had their first year or two, not necessarily the scores of the non-conference lower tier team they lost to, is the comparison that’s being made.

Some people just don’t like CHF and will dwell on his immediate failures, some have way too high expectations for this season (IMO we are right where I thought we would be, sans the loss to NMSU). Rebuilding hurts, takes time and patience. Flash in the pan coaches don’t usually sustain long term success (CGC,CGM)

This is just the state of the football program at the moment and there is really nothing else to be done until CHF gets the players he wants on campus. Moaning and groaning about something you have absolutely zero control over just cause more anxiety
