  1. Also a good lesson on why it is hard to make scheduled and know exactly what you are getting. Notre Dame, Indiana, and USC would all be games that would normally earn you a lot of cred. But all those teams are having kind of disappointing years. Ok St. was also in that early season tourney but lost to St Bonaventure so that was another big win opp lost. But good thing about being in SEC.

  2. The parallels between the Harsin era and the Freeze era are striking. About the only differences have been no offseason scandal for Freeze and that nice looking recruiting class. And those are very important differences....now can Freeze translate that into success on the field??

BB Trivia buffs,  I need a hand.   Has the ever  been an NCAA basketball game that had NO fouls?  Even if only one side had no fouls?

Hard to see how that is possible but they have played basketball a long time so i'd lean towards yes there has been a game were a team had no fouls called.

Man that second half of the Vandy game was painful to watch. Refs really did their best to help Vandy not get blown out a home.

  4. Key to beating ol miss is going to be our depth wearing them down. Their starting five all play 30+ mins and they have 2 maybe 3 guys they bring off the bench. I think their starters can match our pretty evenly but look for AU to press hard all game and pull away at the end of the halves.

  5. Vandy is a decent team with a bad record. Lost a lot of close games. They will definitely beat us if we don't come in ready to play our best.

But i do like our chances in the game. We already don't shoot great percentages so a bad shooting night due to the gym being a weird layout should not bother us a lot. We have the inside players and driving ability to not rely on the outside shot. Hopefully our players remember this. And we play great defense and rebound well so if that stays true we should be alright in this game.

Just keeps getting better and better every game! We need someone who can make those “stop and pop “ short jumpers big time.

Can't wait to get this guy on campus. ELITE offensive player. Gonna be interesting how the PG minutes get split up. Hope we see some sets with 2 of the 3 (Tre, Aden, Tahaad) on the court at the same time.

  7. We're a team that wins with effort for the most part. And that effort slipped when we got up 28 in the second half. It happens with college kids and not much you can do about it. Bruce lets his guys play and sometimes its a beautiful thing and sometimes not so much. I see where he was coming from with not calling the TO but not sure i agree with that decision. Couple minutes of them catching a breath isn't going to make or break them IMO. But continuing to play with an unfocused team will break you.

But they recovered on their own and stretched the lead back out for a comfortable 15pt win so in the end it all worked out. Love teaching moments while winning 😀

  8. Even when they aren’t the focus on the TV these guys have cameras on them throughout the entire game. If CBM was physically striking Davis it would have been noticed and replayed. I’m sure CBM was giving him the business about getting his ass kicked and Davis did what he did.

I'm telling you that's not what is happening, not what put this into motion, and you can either accept that some folks actually know the reason this had to happen or you can continue making s*** up.  But it will get corrected if you choose the latter.

Your saying Nix isn't getting hired to replace Caddy?

    Not what is happening.

You say as he gets replaced by Nix who is what?? A Freeze disciple. Lot of rumors flying around but i'm talking about what is actually happening. An Auburn man is resigning and Freeze is replacing him with one of his guys. Thats exactly what is happening lol

  11. I think this is a really interesting question. One that i've thought about often as the team has taken off. If the goal is only to make an NBA roster....actual roster not g-league and no measure of how they will do in the NBA. I'd put their percentages as follows. Players not listed mean i don't think they have a realistic shot of making a roster.

Aden - %55. Very young so lots of room for growth. I don't think he could make one today but 2/3 years from now who knows.
Tre - %60. Good shot. Good vision. Tough kid. Makes good decisions. Doesn't seem to get rattled. Not super quick...and size could be a problem. I mean sharife couldn't make a roster so shows you how hard it is.
Denver - %30. So far the step up in competition has been too much.
KD - %30. He's brought himself back into the convo with the year he is having. Can he make a roster with his defense? His offensive game doesn't get him there.
CBM - %65. Surely this guy will make a roster. Smart player. Good size for his position. If he can show a more consistent 3 percentage goes up
Jaylin - %45. I've always thought he looked a bit too slow and not assertive enough on the court. Definitely looking more assertive this season. Still not sure he is athletic enough for NBA
Broome - %90. Stretch big man. He'll make a roster. More curious what his ceiling is in the NBA
Cardwell - 35%. Can't teach size! He is big and moves well. Still lot of big guys out there that are big and can move. Maybe he gets a shot as a backup big? He wouldn't have made this list prior to this season.

I really don't watch a whole lot on NBA either so i'm not the best judge on this topic.

  12. I think the argument could be made for KD, CBM, and Tre to start. But i think Pearl likes the flow of the 2 lineups right now. The opponent comes out with there best lineup and plays us even and feels good about themselves. Both teams sub and AU has zero drop off and may even start playing better. How many times we've started to slow to have backups come in and get us started? Its rare to have a team this even between starters and subs and i think its brilliant to divide the lineups like he has. Constant pressure on the other team.

  13. We survived a terrible shooting night against a team that was picked #15 and expected to be top 5 team in SEC this year. And returned most of the team that beat our brains out repeatedly last season. That’s a huge accomplishment right there. Knowing we can grind out one of these kind of games is huge going forward.

  14. Just hope this football program can find some stability at some point. It’s going to be a struggle until that’s gets figured out. Can’t be changing coordinator’s every year and expect progress to be made. I thought Robert’s did a solid job with what he has but losing him isn’t the big concern. It’s the lack of consistency in the program. Need a coach that can identify and hold on to quality coaches. Hopefully freeze gets it right on the second try.

Frankly, I do not like CBP popping up and spouting *We are going to LOSE games." I don't want that kind of attitude.

I want the attitude going into SEC play of "We are going to WIN EVERY GAME" and "We have the team, we have the scheme, we will win!"

Okay, so maybe Auburn doesn't win every game. But I want the team (and CBP) going into every single game thinking and proclaiming to his players and to the fans "we will win this game."

Every Game! I want to hear fro CBP and every player "We will win this game!"

Go listen to the pregame speeches and thats what you'll hear. I think he was talking to the fans through the media more than his team. We've looked really good the last 6 or so games and have been blowing people out. Pearl knows thats not going to be the reality for the rest of the season and he wants to remind the fans of that in case we have a rough stretch. One thing coach knows is how to manage people. I think he is actually pretty high on this team and their potential. You could tell it after the Baylor lose. He expected to win that game and was sorely disappointed when we didn't. About as down after a lose as I have seen the man.

  16. Good win to close out the OOC part of the season. We could easily be sitting here with 0 loses. But can’t be to upset with how this team has come together and are playing heading into SEC play. We fell in love with the 3 last night but even with that and not hitting many in second half we still held off a scrappy opponent. The way this team can win multiple ways is going to be a huge asset moving forward. We are deep. Play hard defense. Pass the ball well. Don’t turn it over much. And occasionally we can shoot well. That combo will win us a lot of games this year!

  17. Great job by the coaches on the recruiting class. Outside of OL it looks like we got impact players at every level. Still gotta get the black hole that has been our OL recruiting for the last 6 years addressed but putting that aside this was a very impressive haul for their first full signing class. Add in how this past season went and especially how it finished and that makes this recruiting job all the more impressive. If they can show some progress on the field next season it should help them close some of the high ranks guys like KJ and LJ that were close to choosing AU. Great work coaches and staff!

  18. Its been really fun watching this Auburn team the last few games. And i'm getting a little heady on how good this team could end up being. Feels like we've kind of started to gel and the players are finding their roles and understanding what to expect playing with each other. Denver is looking more confident out there and that is absolutely huge for this team. Aden and Tre have both answered the call and both have played well enough to be the starting PG. Very impressed with both of those guys. Jaylin is playing with confidence. Cardwell man....the light has come on for him. He is just playing so smart and with that same energy. Not fouling....great defense...rebounding....wow biggest surprise of the year for me. Broome has been great to solid all season. And CBM is one of the better all around players we've had at AU with Pearl in charge. And more than anything i think the depth and balance of this team is whats going to set it apart. Truly a team where there is no #1 guy. I think that fact was a bit of a struggle early in the season but its going to be a strength going forward. No one is waiting for the #1 to make a play. All our guys are looking to make the play. Great team attitude out there. No way Moore should be starting over CBM but if that bothers CBM i can't tell that it does. We'll lose some more games to be sure but i expect this team to be right there with Kentucky and Tenn competing for the SEC championship. Great job by the coaches putting these pieces together. Gonna be a fun season!
