Kid is fast and I believe will be very good in college. Comes from high school powerhouse Buford. What's been weird about Buford kids they usually have not had very good college careers. We've had 2 or 3 Buford kids

That’s about to change. The dynamic/make up of Buford has become a lot more diverse than it was 10-15 years ago. Expect their 5 star high school players to be day 1 or day 2 draft picks now. The kids they have this year are special. They are freaking LOADED.

I'm not sure either, but the kid is very smart and coachable, so I could see him adding fifteen pounds of muscle over the next 8 months with guidance from our S. and C. coach. Nothing is for sure, but there is a chance.

He will walk into AU one of the strongest players on the roster. 405+ bench and 385+ power clean as a 17 year old HS senior. 2 of my college teammates were his HC and DC/Strength coaches at Kennesaw Mountain. They spoke extremely highly of him and his work ethic. He may or may not be ready to play next fall, but I don’t think it will be from a lack of preparation.

I haven't forgotten about the depth we used to have and still have today, thanks to Coach Malzahn. Thing about college football, it's a revolving roster with a four/five year cycle. Any position needs to be constantly replenished. If a team wants to maintain, say, 18 scholarship O-line players it needs to sign roughly five each recruiting cycle.

Harsin has now had 1&1/2 recruiting cycles. He's should have signed roughly seven. He's signed two. He also at the moment has only one O-line player committed for the current cycle. The impending O-line depth disaster that AU faces next season is squarely on Harsin. He's been here long enough to have brought in several of his own guys. To date he's been living off Gus's players, many of who will have used up their eligibility after the current season. The extra year's eligibility because of COVID saved Harsin's bacon this season.

Maybe he can pull some from the portal, though he hasn't been able to even pull even one O-line from the portal to date.

To say the OL issues are squarely on Harsin is a testament to how loyal you are to Gus. Bravo.

  4. B. Harsin not knowing important in-state coaches/programs is a problem that needs to be fixed asap. I hope he gets this issue resolved soon.

I am a HS HC in GA, at a school that has not recently and likely will not produce power 5 talent over the next several years… but Kirby still has my number and speaks to me at coaching functions.

Relationships matter in recruiting far more than the average person wants to acknowledge.

Pat Nix may not be that type. But I bet my house certain HS coaches in Alabama steer their players to certain schools.

And that is probably true. But coming from someone who is indeed, a HS HC, you probably wouldn’t want your kid to play for those guys if they’ve got that sort of agenda.

  6. First- if a HS HC is steering kids to one school or another, he isn’t coaching because he cares about kids. He’s coaching to boost his own ego.

Second- Pat Nix does not strike me as that type, and it would not benefit his program to take that approach. Too many Auburn ties in the area would pull support from the program if he became anti-Auburn. Ultimately his HS program’s success is more important than any bitterness the Nix family may have.

@AUinGA44 To be fair here CTF did not get any help from the other coaches on O. He had to coach all the positions virtually by himself because the rest of the coaches refused to coach his system.

Totally accurate. That build up brings back memories, I remember how fired up I was watching the play Clemson in the bowl game NYE of 2007 going into 2008. I was dating a chick that went to UGA at the time and I was talking cash s*** in an Athens bar about how good Auburn was about to be. How wrong I was.

  8. The following has absolutely ZERO merit to it, so if you want concrete info, this ain’t it.

That being said, the Dawg fans I’m friends with (which is a large number) are convinced that the loser of the Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff battle will transfer to Auburn and kill it under Harsin. The Bama friends I have, (also an alarmingly large number) do not want the above transfer to take place.

In all honesty, I look for Beck to transfer after the bowl game and possibly Brock in the spring. If Stetson or JT stays, Brock is rumored to bolt.

Just some rival QB chatter. WDE
