    So you wouldn't keep Caddy?

I've gone back and forth on this in my head multiple times and I'm thinking I wouldn't keep him on staff.

If he wants to grow in the coaching profession, he needs to go elsewhere. I would help find him a landing spot where he could continue to expand his professional toolbox.

Well, he's a great running backs coach, a great recruiter, and popular with fans. He'd have to be insane not to keep him, but then again we are talking about Lane Kiffen.

I keep seeing this here and is it really true or is it a view through O&B glasses?

yep, and im telling yall, if he comes here and does well and the next coach at bama (when ever that is) stumbles, he is exactly the kind of person who would leave Auburn for Alabama.

im not saying thats a reason not to hire him, just an observation.

The gumps would never hire an Auburn HC to be their HC. It just won't happen.

Gotta love how it's always a rally on how players don't know anything.....also seems about right to see stuff like "prisoners running the asylum" .

Same guys that get triggered when you question have they ever played or coached mind you, because they get upset that their armchair coaching isn't valid. Now let's go even further to say players don't know anything period. The players are dumb, they need the old guys with the money to make decisions for them.......

But then when the team don't play for a guy who doesn't give a damn about them the board is crying again. Around this time last year most of the people saying this were laughing and celebrating players and coaches leaving......we're learning the hard way though, keep it up!

I don't know that anyone said the players are dumb but, I guess you have to keep to your script.

They’re young adults, Caddy won’t be HC but they know what they’re talking about more than random fans on a message board

They know next to nothing about running a program. It's an emotional appeal by them. I get it, Caddy is great at connecting with the players in the locker room, meeting rooms, practice fields, etc. but that doesn't mean you hand the keys to the program to him.

I don’t think it’s necessary to tear in to caddy for his lack of experience. It’s a waters wet debate. It’s highly doubtful he’s even in play this cycle. But he should be get a permanent position of some sort and be in consideration down the road. Imo 15 years from now whoever we’re about to hire will probably be gone (hopefully after winning many many “big games”). And caddy will still be here.

The only way you guarantee that is if it's an AD position. You don't drop a bank full of money on a HC and then tell him who he has to keep.

yes yes i understand this dude i am 67 years old so i have a little bit of a clue. but you people are looking at it wrong. punt bama punt. kick six. you guys know the list and i think caddy belongs on that list for how he turned the team around on short notice and gave auburn their pride back. i stand by my words.

Sure, I agree, put him on that list. However, that doesn't guarantee him a spot on the next staff.

Why is this a thing right now? "possible verbal commit but won't know anything till after the iron bowl?"

Feels like an attempt by the ptb to redirect the herd towards a new narrative for some reason. Feels like a controlled and orchestrated redirect.

Our ptb's are really good at utilizing certain journalist to spark a fire on twitter to accomplish this means as we saw w the Harsin deal in the off season. No big deal, just sort of interesting to me.

A verbal agreement but holding off the announcement until the end of the regular season isn't uncommon.
