Respectfully, if u compare Ole Miss schedule to Auburn it shouldn’t be hard to do. They don’t have a Georgia or Penn State on the schedule. Switch schedules and Auburn is probably eligible

Ole Miss doesn't win 10 games in a season often.  Its a lot harder than you are giving credit for.  On average about once a decade there since integration.

If you're comparing Ole Miss to Auburn as apples to apples, then you're missing the big picture.

Even a close US loss to Brits and healthy win vs Iran gets us out of group stage.

    Not confident about that.

If England beats us, they are through.  May then play a B squad against Wales and I could see the Welsh winning that.

We need a result Friday to force England to play hard against Wales.

I assume you are all talking about USMST vs England?

I don't follow mens soccer much, but I thought the mens team has been down the last few years

Does the US actually have a realistic shot at winning this?

Us vs England is Friday at 1 pm.

We have the youngest roster at the World Cup. Lots of young talent.  The game Friday is huge if we want to get to the knockout rounds.  Need at least a draw.

We aren't winning the whole thing, but we can certainly make a run.  Its really about gaining experience for when these guys are in their prime 4 years from now and we host the tournament.

If announced on Friday it would give Friday (most CFB fans/croots could not care less about soccer), Saturday (the biggest CFB weekend of the season wiith the most eyes), and then Sunday - Signing day.  Wasting this Saturday seems like bad strategy.

Get out more my man.  Its the World Cup and people absolutely care that normally wouldn't.   Transcends normal fandoms. This was Birmingham yesterday during a work day.  I would bet most of these folks are college football fans as well.

How would announcing it on Sunday, AFTER the games are played, give us less eyes than when we’re competing against the actual games??? Hell on Friday, we’re competing against the biggest soccer match in this country in a lifetime and other football games. We’d have significantly less market share on Friday than we would Sunday

Literally the only sporting event I will be paying attention to Friday.  Lane can wait.

The yards are genuinely impressive. But it doesn’t give me much solace. Looking at the yardage in the Auburn-LSU game this year shows how deceiving it can be.

Its easy to forget two TDs were called back on penalties.  Ole Miss hurt themselves a lot tonight.

Key penalties and umcharacteristic turnovers all night.

Yes the standard to qualify as the coach at AU should include being able to be competitive in your third year against a coach in his first.

Let’s just take our common games…

And remember we fired our coach for this season…

We bot lost to Arky by around 14-15 points.
We both lost to LSU, us by 4, them by 25

We both beat A&M by 3 (our interim coach pulled that one off……………….)

They beat us head to head

So literally the only comparable game we played that they actually win the comparison on is the head to head…and we fired our coach for this performance.

So essentially the difference between getting fired mid season and being worth 10mil a year is winning the head to head game…and maybe beating a 6-5 Kentucky by 3.
    Seems legit

You do realize how dumb this logic is, right?  Need an example:

    Tommy Tuberville.

Auburn's horrible 1998 team beat his Ole Miss squad.  We hired him that November.

I'm interested in what is a coach building at a program.  Kiffin is building a winner quickly at Ole Miss.  Is he perfect?  Nope.  Not even my top choice.  But given better resources, I think he gets better coaches and players to work with.  He's 23-10 at Ole Miss.  Do you realize how hard that is to do historically in Oxford?

Perhaps…but until the game was already out of reach they failed to actually score points…We fired our coach 1 day after losing to the same Arky team 41-27…. They just lost by 1 more point…not a good look.
The only caveat here is if the team already knows Lane is gone….
But let’s look at what Ole Miss has done this year…. Their best win is a 3 point win over currently 6-5 Kentucky. Their second best win?  Auburn.  3rd best…4-7  A&M by 3…

They’ve beaten one bowl eligible team this year…by 3 points. But hey they were ranked …

Is it Lane's fault that the SEC largely sucks this year?
